Wow, this is great news!

I played most titles of the Total War-Series, but I just loved Shogun most of all and I still have the original cover and CD. Great game, great soundtrack.

Shogun 2!

I really hope they'll fix path finding, clogging, on wall behavior...

BTW

I find Rome the best from the serial. Also, I am so poor admiral. Never tried Napoleon. Is it any good?

A lot of things need fixing, Empires is not one of my favorite from the series. Don`t worry about the admiralty :) the ships that you see in the video are full of infantry not of hundreds of guns. It will be interesting how the naval battles will be fought.

Napoleon is my first Total War game and I like it a lot!

All of the TW games are pure awesomeness. With Shogun 2 they say every single aspect of the game has been turned over, looked at, nurtured, polished and refitted. I can't wait.

Gamescom 2010 Shogun 2 presentation, horrible quality of the video and the game is still in pre-alpha but nevertheless here it is:

If they have as many broken promises and as poor of support as Empire Total War did, this will suck too. :(

Started the series with medieval, years ago, it was great. Rome and Medieval 2 were great, too, but I didn't like Empire that much. Never tried Napoleon.

IMO the best part was Medieval 2, the Castle sieges were simply great.

Looking forward to Shogun 2, hope it will be better than Empire

March 15. Will have to put that in my diary. :smilewink:

I really hope that this is good. I played the original STW back in the day. For me I started going off the Total War series with Empire Total War. Rome has been my favourite closely followed by Shogun.

I remember the first one--I couldn't play it because every time a crow cawed my speakers would go into a fit of static and I would have to reboot to get them to shutup.

Suck as Empire? The heck? Empire was definitely the best in the series (with Rome as a close second) - after the five billion patches required to make it playable. :P

I found the battles in Empire to be a lot more fluid than the battles in previous titles, making the battles feel more dynamic. Combine that with moving economic structures out of the province capitals and it was just awesome. Well... when it didn't crash.

I'm hoping for a bug-free(ish) Empire-style Shogun. That would make my day - and probably more than just a day. :D

genbrien, I'm not sure why that happens to you. I usually played that one as England and had no problems doing crusades. (But then I got boned by the Mongol invasion after conquering most of the holy land. :P ) The key is to minimize travel time and only transport armies led by a crusading general.

Rusty, one thing that might have turned many of was the complete maze of bugs that plagued Empire at release. It really was atrociously bad at that point with lots of weird bugs. Another point some make is that the decreased emphasis on melee combat changed the battle dynamics quite a bit, which might turn some off if they liked the previous "style" of combat more. (I personally liked the Empire battles more than the previous games.)

But yeah, aside from those I really struggle with figuring out why people dislike Empire so much. Nowadays it is fairly bug-free, runs beautifully, has an awesome mod engine integrated and is generally kickass imo. :P

Possibly because Empire at release was a total bug fest and performance was horrible and reviews reflected that.

But I agree that after all those patches it's quite good. Shame it took CA that long though.
