GGTharos Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Thanks for the support, and - Not as much as it will rock your target's world :D Thanks for the feedback, but do remember I am only pointing why the BS as a sim does not interest me. I did buy it however to support DCS. The A10C is gonna rock my little world me thinks though...cannot wait for that hardcore beast. davek1979 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I just wish there were more "nails" like DCS:BS coming out. :-) I was posting pretty weird questions around here around April last year, while taming the beast. Also started in Arcade mode and quickly understood Real is REAL! One must love this sim man! While I'm not holding my breath for any fastmover, I'll sure as hell fly the Hog and keep hoping for Hind or Apache, if not Havoc. :-) Hmmm, Havoc... yummy... ...well someone has to move the mud!!!
Steel Jaw Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Hey Davek, who says the Hog aint no fast mover? Just cause it takes bird strikes froom behind? Just cause its speedometer is a clock? LOL "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB, monitor: GIGABYTE M32QC 32" (31.5" Viewable) QHD 2560 x 1440 (2K) 165Hz.
GGTharos Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Hey, you can fly the A-10C fast enough to break it, probably ... or at least to lose control, so don't knock it! ;) The Vne is 450kt or M0.75, whichever comes first. After you exceed these you should in theory start noticing control issues. aaron886 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 You say "after you exceed these" as if you'll ever do that. :D
sobek Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 You say "after you exceed these" as if you'll ever do that. :D You'll be surprised at what an unloaded Hog can do ;) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
aairon Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) The only 'immortal' setting I turned on, was for my pilot's logbook, because it was a pain to have to keep recreating it and starting over for reasons not of my fault :)I keep having reasons not my fault also like sometimes for no apparent reason the ground increases it's altitude and flies up to hit the bottom of my chopper, and occasionally when I am flying along minding my own business a missile comes out of nowhere and since it's right in my flight path I run into it. I am sure this is a defect in the Sim. but I've only been flying the BS a little over three weeks so I think I can figure out a way soon, to get around these shortcomings with this Sim. Because of this, the average age of my pilots is about one hour. they are all very young. You'll be surprised at what an unloaded Hog can do ;)Lmao it reminds me of an incident down south when I was visiting some friends, I saw some things that a LOADED hog can do but one of them was not flying, in that context a fully loaded hog can also be VERY dangerous. Eddie Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Don't need to be going straight down, don't need to be clean either. You sure don't. She's a lot faster than you might think, even in level flight with a myriad of ordnance hanging off the wings.

The A10C is gonna rock my little world me thinks though...cannot wait for that hardcore beast. I bet I will be able to rack up kills faster with the Ka-50 than with the A-10. You get 12 vikhrs, that usually means you can kill 12 tanks, plus what ever you can get with your rockets and cannons every time you go out. With the A-10, you have to get dangerously close to employ guns (since you have to fly at the enemies to shoot them), and can you pack 12 guarenteed tank kills on the A-10? I'm just curious, can you? Maybe if you tank plink with GBU-12s, load up your other stations with mavericks, but how many weapons total does that give you? Since the A-10 carries more POWERFUL weapons but fewer, it might have an advantage when attacking heavily armored tanks that require 2 vikhrs to kill. Ive put a lot of practice in A-10A gun strafes of tanks in FC2. I dunno ifits just me, but to get 1 tank kill with requires several attack runs and 1/3 to 1/2 of my cannon rounds. Other vehicles usually only take 1 no more than 2 attack runs to kill. Still I have to get close enough most of the time that they get shots off at me first. APCs are rather deadly. KA-50 is much better at sniping these sort of things at stand off range. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart

Realistic mission-dynamic aside, if you line them up in a Shooting-Range scenario, you're going to be killing a helluva lot more than the Shark.......but that's besides the point. It's the finesse whereby you dispatch your victims with the Hog that does it for me. Given a Kill-Box, you can sort Gophers from Skunks and blast a pimple off a fly's backside and all from 20000'+ AGL......and when the pain finally sets in on the ground, you're well-far away, admiring the destruction in relative comfort. Apart from MERAD/LORAD systems, nothing ruffles the Hog. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! bumfire Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Actually the WAH-64 doesn't have all that much engine power superiority over the 64D ... it got upgrades too, IIRC. And, as far as I am aware, they cannot goto max power, they are limited in the amount of power they apply simply because the engines are too powerful for the gearbox, or some other part of the helo. So although it has more powerful engines, the extra power goes unused. Whether that has changed I do not know, but in Ed macy's book if I recall, he mentions the fact that they are limited in the amount of power they apply because of the damage that can be caused because of it.
GGTharos Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Probably upgraded too, but I don't really know. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
