Hog Driver Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I just wanted to point out a small inaccuracy with the shape of the rear blade antenna under the tail. On the A+ and C models the antenna was replaced for use with the AN/ARC-210 secure voice radio, even though not every aircraft has the radio installed. This antenna is a bit longer lengthwise (oh, and gray). You'll notice this in any photo of the C model. Hopefully, it's not too late to make a small change to the model. If so, oh well, I can live with it. After all, I'm going to be living in the cockpit. Otherwise the sim looks quite spectacular so far. Keep up the good work. 2
Hog Driver Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 2, 3, 4, and 6. Notice how it looks more blunt?
Krunkskimo Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 i see how the rears more blunt but, does the front antenna on 3 and 6 look diagonal while the others are swept?
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) Definitely missing a few rivets too! Hog Driver you're a savage! J/K! Edited August 26, 2010 by HitchHikingFlatlander http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
Hog Driver Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 @Krunkskimo The frontmost antenna in 3 and 6 are the VHF/AM and some are different based on manufacturer. The rearmost is the same for all A+ and C models. @Hitch I knew someone would call rivet counting on me:D:, but it's actually about the only way to externally identify updated aircraft. Therefore, it's kind of a major deal. And besides, they have so many other little details such as the covert lights, and even the oft-missed split canopy frame on the rear, that one would think that someone at ED or their sources would have caught that error.
Scabbers Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 http://www.rockwellcollins.com/ecat/gs/graphics/arc210a.jpg The arc 210 antennas are black. That is how we know. the farther aft antenna is an AN/APX-118 or 122/123 IFF TRansponder antenna. You stay in the pit i will keep em flyin..... Now where is that speed brakes control again? Hog Driver Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Thanks for that irrelevant picture.

Steve Davies Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 @Hitch I knew someone would call rivet counting on me:D:, but it's actually about the only way to externally identify updated aircraft. About the only way to VID the A-10C? And you fly these for a living? Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com
Hog Driver Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 No, I don't fly them IRL. Does that disqualify me? And yes, the C model has very little changed externally from the A model. The A+ (ANG and Reserves intermediate update, about 75% of C update) and C model have a new blade antenna for the AN/ARC-210(V) in place of the VHF/AM antenna. The SATCOM on the spine and the AN/AAR-47 MWS on the wings and tail aren't part of the C update.
Steve Davies Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) It disqualifies you from leading people to think that you fly them for a living, which is exactly what people here had concluded. An early correction from you would have been appreciated. Ref VID, there are other external differences between A-10C and A-10A+, but since you're berating ED for getting the antenna wrong, I'll let you work out what those differences are for yourself. Hog Driver Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 Aaaaaannnnnnd, this is why I don't join forums. I simply pointed out something that I noticed, berating no one, stated the fact that I thought the product was spectacular, and a mod brings an attitude to the thread as if I'm threatening his manhood. The A-10 has always been my aircraft of choice and I just thought I would mention one small thing (which apparently makes me the bad guy) to help make it a perfection and the best product available. I'm not asking for a Sniper XR pod. Just wondering if it's possible to change a couple of polygons on the model. If not I stated it's fine. I in no way think you represent ED as a whole and will still be buying the product at release. I promise I won't bother you again. Thank you and goodbye. --footsteps fading, door squeaks open, door slams, and he's gone for good-- 1
Steve Davies Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I am not a mod. I just don't like deception, 'Hog Driver'. Good bye. Oh, before you go, a quick explanation of the rebuke comment may clear things up for you... ...that one would think that someone at ED or their sources would have caught that error Implied meaning: ED have dropped the ball = informal rebuke. 1 Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com
Feuerfalke Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Well, Hog Driver, I doubt anybody would deny a good hint or good resource, but as so often, it's the tone that makes the music. You must admit, that the name "Hog Driver" together with your statements must have raised the idea that you indeed are a hog-driver. And considering how aggressively you reacted when Steve asked if you are, I got the same impression he did: That this image you created was actually intended. If you have detailed information about the Hog, anybody here welcomes your initiative to share it. But there is no need to deceive or attack somebody else, when doing so. 1 MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD
leafer Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Think you might jumped the gun a little? Unless he edited his posts, I didn't get the impression that he was a real A10 pilot. If you were referring "I'm going to be living in the cockpit" I thought he meant in the sim. 1 ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

213 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 i'm actually not quite sure why people would come to that conclusion. people use names like that all the time. 1
Steve Davies Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 i'm actually not quite sure why people would come to that conclusion. Because when a real life A-10C maintainer said, 'You stick to flying them, I'll stick to fixing them', he made no effort to clarify that he is not actually a Hog Driver. people use names like that all the time. You can chose whatever handle you want to use, but when it is misleading and you make no effort to clarify the situation, it doesn't look very good. I have seen many misrepresentations on the internet over the years, so perhaps that is why I take a no-nonsense approach to this kind of thing. Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com
JCC Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 This is exactly the kind of thing that put me, and a lot of others, off of Falcon 4.0. A great game ruined by a lot of people who took themselves way too seriously. Too bad they are here too. Oh, and least I be accused of misleading someone, for the record I am not Jesus Christ, Carpenter. JCC 3

mvsgas Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 What was wrong with the antenna? To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
Speed Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 What was wrong with the antenna? It is the back one, it's too thin according to Hogdriver. Hogdriver: If you're still around, thanks for pointing this out. Cueball Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Just be glad we have a team producing these Sims for us. Thank you for that. When the enemy has a few thousand pounds of munitions coming his way. Do you think he cares how detailed the tail antenna is. He is hoping is end will come swiftly. But I do appreciate someone looking into details.
