andysim Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) :music_whistling: Need a good set of rudder pedals that are going to last. Ive been slowly collecting flight sims over the years and think its time to get in more depth. Ive go my eye on the Warthog Hotas thats coming in october (mid october acording to Flightstore www.flightstore.co.uk ) though. Doing overtime at work and putting the extra pennies into my set up. Flightstore. I already have Track IR 5 and a PC thats able to run FSX/KA50 (im guessing if I can run the KA-50 then there should be no problem with the A-10 when it comes. Thanks in advace Edited September 27, 2010 by andysim
Ragtop Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread as I'm in exactly this boat. Preordered my TM Warthog on Amazon last night, release date is (expected) as 29th October. I had my eye on the Simped F-16 pedals, but TM removed the gameport that was on the Cougar. Would one of the Gameport to USB adapters work? 476th vFG Alumni
Deadman Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 They make USB Simpeds http://www.dhs-electronic.de/index2.php?id=215&lng=en There great pedals i have had mine for several years https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Ragtop Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) How did I miss that!? I've looked at that website multiple times and somehow never seen them. *Facepalm* The Saitek Combat rudder pedals also look very interesting, although I can't find a price right now. EDIT: Looks like they'll be about $199. Very interesting! Edited September 27, 2010 by Ragtop 476th vFG Alumni
aaron886 Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 If you get the Saiteks, let us know how they do! They look excellent, if I had the money I'd love to get a pair.
PeterP Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) Since two years I'm a happy owner of Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. I also dismantled them twice to remove dust and dirt and to grease them, So they are in a absolute good condition and very precise. Before I got them I used CH Rudder Pedals - also very sturdy and reliable - but I started to experiment with a centre stick position for helicopter use and it was just to uncomfortable. The CH Pedals are designed for the Typical Cessna pilot - with a Flight-yoke in his hands instead a moving Stick between his legs.:D They are too narrow - after I used the saitek I will hardly comeback to the CH. It's just so much more comfortable - even If you don't use a centrestick config. Here is a review http://www.simhq.com/_technology2/technology_104b.html But I would wait a little if I where you - these ones are on the way they are called Combat Rudder Pedals (constructed from a highly robust Di-cast alloy -Saitek) and would make a nice addition to the TM HOTAS Warthog. And they should cost $199.99 / Ј179.99 / €199.99 if we believe this news: http://electronic-geek.com/tag/pro-flight-combat-rudder-pedals/ Edited September 27, 2010 by PeterP

I too, had the CH pedals, and I found them uncomfortable even before experimenting with center sticks. They concked out on me a while ago due to a problem on the circuit board. All in all, they were sturdy and lasted a long time. The only complaint I can come up with is the center detent, but that is just personal prefrence. I then got the Saitek pedals and I am equally satisfied with them. They have no center detent, they are a good width, and they haven't complained to me yet. leafer Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) I had a Simped Vario, 6-7 years ago, and its construction was sturdy and very precise in usage. Unlike CH pedals, the Simped had good spacing between pedals and it felt natural leaving my feet on them throughout game play. It was very expensive and it took forever to receive mine. To make matter worst it came with a broken part which Hoffmann, again, took forever to replace. To top it off, he had never replied to any of my emails so I posted pics of the broken part at frugals. The part just showed up one day about a month or so later. Just a heads up... Edited September 28, 2010 by leafer ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
andysim Posted September 28, 2010 Author Posted September 28, 2010 ok I will try the Saitek ones. Ps just did my first flight in the Ka-50 with new track IR. It has to be the most strange and wonderfull sensation ive had in a flight sim.
Ragtop Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Snap Andy, got my TIR5 today, only flown it in FC2 so far, but with the 6DOF mod, damn its amazing! Totally different world to my experiences with Freetrack, simply stunning. I think I'm gonna hold off til the Saitek Combat pedals come out, they look ideal and they're priced very well too. Plus my wallet is still burning preemptively from the TM Warthog :P 476th vFG Alumni
bumfire Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Andy, wait and see if you can get the new saitek pedals. http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/compedals.html Thats the ones I am going for after I found the CH ones to be too close together and I dont want to pay 280 euros for simped ones. They should be out soon.
