So far the profile is working ok for me, but I am only just starting to use a lot of the buttons so I may find something wrong yet.

Pinkie switch is working fine for me, e.g. I can trim using it no problem.

The only thing I had to change relates to this bit of Jack's instructions:

Inside DCS A-10C, change the "HOTAS Speed brake switch forward" keyboard key to "S", and the "HOTAS Speed brake switch aft" keyboard key to "A". This enables the use of the slider as a speedbrake controller

For whatever reason, in BETA2 "A" is now "Autopilot" and "1" is "HOTAS Speed brake switch forward". So I switched both of these around

Also assign a key to "EAC Arm" switch (in my case I did RAlt+E), since the cockpit switch is not working in the current beta version. EAC enables the autopilot and PAC systems.

I also don't think this step is needed as I believe that switch now works in BETA2

If you set up your profile in Beta 1 it comes across so A and S remain valid. Good to hear EAC is fixed though

I just downloaded the beta two nights ago and immediately found your profile and followed your directions. Everything seems to be working smooth with the exception of any button related to the Pinkie switch. Example: Pinkie + POV 2 Up should provide Trim Nose Down - No dice.

Am I missing something or can someone point me in the right direction to get this corrected. Does it matter which Mode I am in (1, 2, or 3). It has been driving me nuts that I cannot use anything related to the Pinkie switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW Jack this profile is great and I cannot wait to get everyting commited to memory, or close to it, so I can play like it is second nature.

Pinkie modifier mapped for me but didn't work. So you go into a button and press the button to have the game map it then choose modifier and tap the pinkie and it picks up but then Pinkie/button doesn't give you that result. I got around it by mapping Pinkie to R-ALT in the SST profile, and then changing all the pinkie modifier references to R-ALT.

That worked fine.

The Mode toggle controls lights in the profile. By default I think the green light on the X52 (Mode1) corresponds to default external lights, Mode 2 (yellow) to as per panel and Mode 3 (red) to lights off. Its quite handy for Fence checks i.e. rolling inbound lights to red,(Red Alert) and you know your sweet. Similarly lights to green during start up... At least thats how mine ended up, it may be the other way around by default in which case work on Green and you're good to go in, red your dead...

The other changes I ended up making to the default profile was to map Toggle 1 (up) to Toggle gear and Toggle 2 (down) to silence gar warning. Thats worth doing. Also no seat adjust in the ED config yet which is a nuisance, as I find when I'm flying and slouch a bit, the HUD starts to disappear.... :)

I also ended up swapping the Clutch button and button D so the Clutch is the HOTAS left throttle button (Auto pilot) and Fire D is voice comms as that is slightly easier to reach regularly and you find with A/P you typically think about wanting that on when youre flying straight and level, where Voice comms you want to just be able to grab. Same deal with Trim it works better to move it to Pinkie and the throttle hat (radio stick) as that is a little easier to reach, although a lot of this gets to personal preference once you are happy with the base function.

I just wish Saitek would do a new version of the SST which let you latch the Axis bands so that you could meaningfully use the Rotaries, or that ED would put the Axis Trim back into the Sim (and while were at it an axis for speed brakes to avoid this whole A and S thing) as I feel like I have these two useless rotaries on my stick at the moment

Hi, I just got my new x-52 pro and Installed the JackBauer profile, but I need some help, all the function mapped in the simulator itself work very well but all function mapped in the SST does'nt work. I used the last driver and last software version. I followed your installation instruction and remapped A and S for the speedbrake. But the speedbrake slider and the mini-stick does'nt work.

Make sure you enable the SST profile before playing.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for making this cool profile, been using it since beta 1.

I was running it with 32b, and now I am using 64bit beta 4. Problem is that when I load yours, it takes away the ability to assign keys to several functions. Another thing that is strange is that wheel brake ON only seems to be available when I load your profile.

If you get a chance would you please your profile for the latest 64bit beta?

When I load the .pro file, and move the joystick or push any of the buttons, I get a ton of 'a' keypresses that make windows beep a lot. What am I doing wrong?

I assume you have changed the speedbrake commands to A & S...the repeated A can happen if you don't have the slider centered ie, commanding either the up or down speedbrake command.

kinda new to this game since i used to play DCS. But this profile is amazing.. One problem though, when i go to a10C sim, it wont lemme set the A and S keys to the HOTAS Speedbrake aft/forward. ALso, i have no saitek profile thing (i have the folder and i loaded the pr0 file into there) unless we are talking about the profile manager with its own thing. Cause thats what i lack...other than that its amazing to use other than no slew in cockpit :P yay for TIR5. So if anyone can help methen sweet!!! Thanks again!

Kinda old, but if anyone has this problem, he is probably playing in windowed mode and did multitask at some point.

If you have this problem (not just with this profile), Alt+Tab again, and press Win + D to minimize all windows. Then click again on DCS A-10 and it shouldn't happen again.

Allthough I saw this profile the first time today, I did a very similar one - it works really nicely. Don't need mode switches at all. Of course one can add more commands to the other modi. I am using Mode 3 for "Navigation And Landing" so that I can squeeze as many important buttons in one mode (+pinky) as possible.

Here you go: http://www.gethome.no/raggz/A10C.X52pro.rar

Same procedure as SFJackBauers. Just converted the pr0 file. LUA stays the same. Works fine when loading in options.

Thanks for the profile SFJack :)

I have tried this twice and it crashed Windows 7 to a blue screen of death both times.

I am not even running the game. I just click the profile to load it into my x52pro and Boom... Blue Screen of Death. :joystick:

Any help appreciated.. Thx..;)

EDIT:

Hmm... I think I made my own version of it. Does the profile only have the , / ; . keys assigned to the mini-stick? And the LCtrl-B, LShift-B keys assigned to the slider for the Speedbrakes?? Is that all that it needs???

Do you have the speedbrakes set up as A and S and programmed to the slider on the Throttle via SST? If so it is giving you repeated A because the slider is not in the middle of the range of travel and is actually imputing a command.

I occasionally have the same issue with X52 Pro....I think this is a ongoing issue with Saitek....probably the SST software? It usually happens when I plug my controllers into the USB ports on my computer.

Yes I had my throttle slider set in the middle, and I was not getting any repeated A keys.

And I did see that the slider was set to send the A and S keys, But I could not see any command in the game set for the S key, so I was confused... On SFJackBauer's profile diagram he indicates that the slider is setup for the Speedbrakes. So, I don't understand how A and S are the speedbrakes. I see them as LCtrl and LShift B keys..

When JackB set up the profile he just picked A and S as they were not assigned in Beta 1...Most of us used A and S through to Beta 4. You are right , the controls for the speedbrakes are as you stated, in the Release Candidate. You need to check your profile while in the profile editor. Open the profile editor, select your profile ( Jack Bauer) or whatever you chose to call it. On the top right side off the editor you see several icons. Click on the one that looks like a toothed gear. This will open the test page. the key strokes to the various buttons and sliders etc will be printed on the page as you move the various controls buttons etc. See if you have any that are a A. such as on the slider for the speed brake commands.

Hope this helps.:)

Thanks for update

Thanks jack, some nice additions there, like NVG on mouse wheel.

I kept meaning to check for free keys to reassign the speed brake. Are keys B and N free and unassigned?

One thing I noticed looking at your diagram that I cant believe I never realised before is that "Function", "Start/Stop" and "Reset" are usable buttons! :doh:I have had this stick for about 5 years :megalol:

Though, they don't seem to appear in the Profiler as assignable buttons (this is my excuse for never noticing I could use them :P) an idea about that? I know it doesn't matter for A10, but it would be nice for other games that I exclusively use profiling for.

Anyway, thanks again for making the best X52 profile for DCSA10 even better. This should be included with the sim imo.

Thanks for the kind words DratsaB!

Yes, B and N looked unassigned to me when I did a clean install. Since the slider, when positioned in one of the extremes, keep sending the key assigned to it continuously, I think is better for it to send simple keys like B and N than complex keys like Shift+B and Control+B which are the default, that can easily entangle with other keys in combination.

I found that by accident, I pressed them and A-10C recognized! But you right, they dont appear in the Profiler, shame Saitek didnt gave us full control over the stick (same thing as the impossibility to assign the ministick to an axis).

Anyway, thanks again for making the best X52 profile for DCSA10 even better. This should be included with the sim imo.

:smartass: Thanks. I put a lot of thought on the placement of each command to be as practical, ergonomic and safe as possible. Glad you liked it.

That looks like a great improvement. I tried it previously, and couldn't quite get the hang of it. That looks much more similar to what I was considering making for myself, but couldn't quite get my head around what I wanted where.

Rgr that, nevertheless suggestions are welcomed. As well as reports if the install procedure is correct and working fine.

Where is the .pr0 file? All that is attached is the .lua...

Thanks for posting everything though, it makes setting up so much easier :)

Did you checked out the zip attached to the first post? I see 2 files in there.
