That won't be a problem in the next beta, I stupidly decided to test this on a return from a successful mission. I don't know why it popped into my head, an hour into a mission, but it did and I can confirm they are now very solid.

That is when I love the control option in the replay. So much time saved with that neat little feature.

You can hear the boost pumps running when you flip the boost pump switches!

You shouldn't be able to hear them running, maybe that's just the humming of the cockpit noises.

It's more of an electrical "buzzing".

Nah, it's the boost pumps. There's no humming until you turn them on

Have you been in a A-10 while the pumps are on? You shouldn't be able to hear them. There is too much other noise interfering to hear them. You can barely hear them with your ear next to them. I worked on them for 6 years and did all sorts of ops checks with them.

Irrelevant isn't it since it's most definitely in the game (which means the game sound model is wrong then). There most certainly is something that sounds like a boost pump sound that starts once you activate the first switch on that panel!

With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

Oh well, it doesn't matter, we can all think whatever we want to think it is :)

But some of us know the truth :D, I'm glad I had the chance to sit inside one and push the buttons, start the APU, do IFR checks and a bunch of other stuff.....good times.

After 20 years in aircraft maintenance though not on the A10 but on many other types and models both military and civilian. When turning on anything electrical and wearing a headset you will hear the electrical noise of it powering up. Especially boost pumps and avionic recirculation fans because of the large current boost required to get it up and running. If your not wearing a headset you most likely will not hear much if anything though you can hear it if you have the cockpit speakers on in the large civilian aircraft.

It is my opinion that ED is simulating that sound as if you are wearing a helmet with the headset plugged in and operational. My 2 cents here :)

I agree, as a pilot and ex-USAF crew chief that "sounds" about right!

Moot point now since in BETA 2 the 'boost pump' sound is not there anymore anyhow.

It didn't really matter before I guess anyway. Like I said working the jet for 6 years and sitting in the cockpit doing many ops checks doesn't mean anything. I haven't bought the A-10C yet anyway, so I haven't heard the sound.

Input from guys like yourself is always very interesting and enlightening but the point me and the others were trying to make was that there was a boost pump sound in BETA 1, which you pointed out was wrong and is now fixed/removed in BETA 2.

With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

Little details I noticed in Beta2:

Spotting collumns on FLIR at 25 miles - check

Being able to smoothly lock mavericks and launch on target - check

Accurarate delivery of LGB's - check

After running out of the former two, use guns to strafe the rest of the column - check

Being able to destroy the column of 20 armored vehicles within in 5 minutes - check

All the while experiencing good fps - check

Being unable to put her on the tarmac and go for some sleep - check

Best simulator experience ever had - check

Makes me feel like I am in love for the first time again - check

not very realistic as the pilots helmet would cancel these sounds out, maybe in external views hear these effects more, real life pilot only hear radio chatter static , and ever so slight engine whine inpit.

Wrong.

Wrong.

That's really not helpful to anyone. As a pilot with an ANR headset, when you put them on, the world gets quite for you so you can do your job. Talk to ATC. Communicate. Even cheap sets can cancel a lot of noise. Because that is what they are designed to do. Now back on topic.
