I thought the gun sounded like an 8bit sound bite lol!

If one could get a high quality recording of the GAU-8 firing from inside the sealed A-10C cockpit minus the engines amplify it and insert it in my effect folder....:music_whistling:

If your tellin me the current in-game one is final then Im kinda shocked..even Armed Assault 2 (ACE Mod) did it better>>:

 

 

Not trying to be picky, but the hog gun is so iconic I would think you have to nail it..its not just another gun.

Now I do understand using a sample, or a variety of samples might not work as you don't know how long the player might hold the trigger for..but there has to be a way around it, they did it on Arma2 and it sounds (feels) freekin good.

 

Other than that loving what I see from A10 so far..

 

No need to worry, I tried it myself today, firing from F2 view, and it doesnt sound like that, doesnt sound like the first youtube link, something must have happened, compression or something, but it doesnt have that C64 feeling you get when listening to that youtube clip. Yes it doesnt sound as cool as the other two links, but when shooting from inside the cockpit it seems just perfect IMO

EXACTLY..thats why I thought it was temp. It sounds like a computer generated rough version of the real thing but it stands out like a sore thumb, given how realistic everything else is. Again I've not heard it from the cockpit view yet but if its the same process as the outside one, I cant imagine its gonna rock me any more

Ok if thats so then..false alarm...:thumbup:

If you still shouldnt like how it sounds, there were mods to change the gun sounds in DCS:BS so im sure there will be for DCS:WH, just wait until they make those mods and pick the one you like :D Or perhaps ED will change it themselves, I dont care, but I am sure there will be possibilities to make it sound just the way you want so it doesnt matter :)

This is my personal favorite for A10 movies including in-cockpit gun sounds. I watch this one and then boot the sim right away for maximum immersion :)

 

 

Though you can hear the stall warning very clearly the cannon is not that audible in this vid. In fact it sounds very much like in-game. I think in-cockpit is done very well in-game.

I just want to make sure everyone understands that in the real video you posted, the first sound is the impact of the rounds, and the second, more muffled "buzz" is the actual sound from the muzzle. The current "firing" noise seems great to me. The round impact noise... not so much.

I'm sure you have a perfectly good ear. I don't think tweaking the pitch of the muzzle/firing "buzz" to a more correct/common tone would be impossible though, from my experience in the sound engine.

 

Listen to that again... just a lower tone. Worth trying.

 

 

Since you posted your video, which is asking for opinions, I offered that the round impacts sound awesome to me. Muzzle sound is ok, but could be better without breaking your back doing it... just a pitch change.

thx for your input maybe try to tweak it a little more , all round its very close though.

mind the simulator emulates sound travel, pitch of cannon changes in the clip.

That's not the sound of impacting rounds. It is the high pitch supersonic crack present with all supersonic objects. Every rifle bullet creates that supersonic crack while is flying supersonic. That's what you hear in that video.

 

This is the perfect example where you can hear all three components:

 

First arives the supersonic crack, then the sound if the impacting rounds and finally that awesome grawl of the cannon.

Diveplane I like your external sounds, but I hope there will be an option to only install your external sounds, since from what I hear in that youtube video I will like EDs internal sounds better then yours. I hope they are seperate files. Can you answer if they are separate files? Thx

thats your opinion, but the default internals are to loud, pilots helmet would never hear that amount of engine inside the cockpit, though we do have a slider in options for this though as well.

my audios are taken from the real aircraft.

 

utube video the camera is picking up raw loud footage , pilot wears a noise canceling helmet and headset.

 

to be honest even my audios in cockpit are a little loud, but it would make for to realistic and boring inside the cockpit no engine sounds at all. what the pilot really hears, static and white noise from radios and his own oxygen supply.

 

this video below is a f15, even inside this jet you can hardly hear the after burners in cockpit

Awesome work Diveplane!

 

 

Its a releave someone get it already so close to the real thing, it makes the sim 10 times better. Nice agressive sound Diveplane, seems that the original sound it to low, like the Gun is fireing to slow. I listend over and over again, impressed especially with the echo bouncing 5-6 sec after the pas. You have to turn your volume up to notice but its there.
