The manual came back from the printer today - all 2.5kg of it!! So I went over to Staples and had it bound into 4 sections - it would have been ridiculous to try to handle a 650 page single book after all.

The printing quality is absolutely superb!! So pleased with it.

My photos (attached) aren't so good because it's indoors at night, with incandescent lights.

Looks fantastic! But yeah the manual is still beta, a lot needs to be changed in it for the final version, so you probably should've waited (hard to I know!) :D

Hi Phrenesis,

Sure, I know it's the beta, but to me, it's not worth waiting months to get the final one. I'm flicking through the known typos listed in the Beta Forum and will print off the Errata when things are finalised.

In the meantime though, I'm now able to sit down and study in comfort instead of staring at a computer screen. As for cost, don't ask!!! LOL. Just send the PDF to your local printers and get a quote.

Mine is on 200g heavy silk paper. Full colour.

Regards,

Tom.

Well, the TM Warthog's ordered, Dark Eagle. As for the rest, I'm pretty happy with it. :-)

Not sure about Track IR though - seen it on YouTube videos and it looks like the pilots sit RIGID in their seats for fear of the sim-view waving all over the place. I'd like to try before I buy, but I don't know anyone who's got it.

You can set a dead zone if you wanted to be able to move your head around without triggering it. You can also set a precision feature which slows down head movement and even pause the camera control. You can also recenter your view to wherever your head is at any time. All of this at the click of a button.

Once you have a proper profile setup it's really quite natural, as if you're sitting there in the cockpit just looking around.

A quick quote from FedEx Office services was $350-$400 to print it all in color and bind it! Yikes.

WOW!!! That's outrageous!! You need a small local printer. Should cost about £60 ($95).

TrackIR will change your life. :D It takes simulation to a whole other level. It requires a little patience to get used to... like another axis, but it becomes second nature and you'll wonder how you ever flew without it.

NaturalPoint's customers are their best advertising, because their product is just that good. Consider it.

Hmm thank god my boss at work has allowed me to use the color laser printer and the paper i need, although i have to wait until after hours, but its worth it... now just need to find out, what to do about binding it...

Dude there aint nothing to think about.

It's a MUST buy for any serious simmer.

You'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

No TIR working for me is an automatic mission abort, even online.

It's that good.

I concur!

You may find it a bit sketchy over your first couple of hours with it, but once you find the settings right for you, you'll never go back.

Agreed on the TIR. Pick it up. Besides a HOTAS, I'd say it's the next most important purchase for a serious simmer, ie. one that would print out the whole manual. :D

Seriously though, it's definitely worth the investment, prior to rudder pedals, prior to multiple monitors.

My 2cents.

As for the manual: I love my iPad. :)

Okay, okay, enough already! LOL. Could be the perfect Xmas present ;-)

I just put the PDF Manual on my Kindle to see if it works and yes, it does! Handy for reading it while away from home. Must be brilliant on the iPad!

That's a nice looking manual.

Yeah for any simmer priority is HOTAS -> TrackIR -> Rudder pedals -> anything else.

You will NOT regret TrackIR.

Re head movements, think of it this way - you need to look at the screen to fly anyway. If you have to move your head to look down to read your manual, look outside or just give recognition to your other half, your eyes aren't on the screen regardless, so it doesn't matter how you fly or what you (can't) see on screen. As soon as you look forward and get back to flying, TrackIR will adjust itself as well.

The only downside is if you want to sink backwards into your chair - TrackIR will register that and move your view backwards accordingly. But when bullets start pinging against your hull, you'll probably perk up again anyway.
