hreich Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I was wondering how many of you have found that your throttle has side-to-side movement? For a expensive product, that is both metallic and so massive, this is a big let down on TM side... In the last year I had a different expensive HOTAS from logitech, which had some software problems, than there was a spiking in rotary wheel on throttle, which i had to fix by opening throttle, and void the waranty but i fixed it. Ok as I see it, this is two different sticks both expensive, and both have some engineering flaws, and all that in the last year... Oh well, nothing we can do with that frustration... kylania Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 The only time I notice it is when people post about it to be honest. Stop trying to move it side to side and you'll be happier. It's so minute as to not even matter. It's kinda like saying "I'm dating this supermodel, but she broke a nail the other day and I just feel like the love is gone now..." :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

For a expensive product, that is both metallic and so massive, this is a big let down on TM side... I feel same here. I've notice right throttle slight play straight up from box. Its minor, but I can already (~2 weeks) feel loosen play... The thing that concerns me is stick play (!) in pitch (Y) and Z (non-existing twist like X52 rudder implemented function) after few days usage. Again, these are minor and most users touching TM WH wouldn't notice but that's not what I expected from 330quid product. And I really treat her gently... That thing caused me to find wheter so called 'high precise hall efect sensor stick' (c'mon, its a basic EM sensor found on camshafts too) can be fixed so I dissambled mine. However I couldnt find out way of disconnecting last 3 bits (2xsphere shaped plastics which provides 2 magneses movement over sensor) without risking damage and these are bits which make whole difference :/ Well, at least I can say that quality and design of TM WH is better done that my previous X52 and S Pro Rudders which have been dissambled too few times (cleaning/correcting plays)
Callsign.Vega Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Theres a mm or two of movement but nothing I would consider unacceptable. To have absolutely no lateral movement they would need to make it out of metal with beefier bearings and tighter clearances. I was more disappointed that the throttle handles/shaft are plastic and not metal over some slight lateral movement. I think for the price they could have kept the throttle metal like the Cougar. Nightcargo Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Even real airplanes have this movement. Does not alter performance. There is no need to apply lateral forces to the throttle. Asus Rampage II i7 920 @ 3.8 EVGA580GTX 6G Corsair WinVista64 Hog
Dejjvid Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I have a slight, slight play in the stick when it's centered. I'm talking about 1-2mm play at the top of the stick. This can't be felt when playing. I can also twist the stick a tiny tiny bit to either side. I don't feel this when playing. And my throttles have some tiny tiny lateral play, but i don't feel it when i play. Get over it! :) You can't make something 100% rock solid. Because then it will be a rock. And we want a HOTAS don't we? ;) I bet they throttles and sticks in the real deal is way more sloppy then our sticks and throttles.. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
