Cibit Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Thank you, my wingman (Mikey) and I used TARS last night and after a little bit of confusion had a very immersive mission. I don't know if it is widely known but only TS3 beta36 works at this time IIRC. A sample of us goofing around during the test:) Headspace you clever bugger have some more rep:thumbup: i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
TRoe13 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 OT: nice vid Cbit, especially liked the "Boom boom shake the room" (i think?) comment lol.. But yea, back On Topic now, this mod is awesome now that i got it working. Me n my wingy went on a mission as well to test and this mod definitely brings on a new level of immersion that is just not there using TS3 or skype on it's own. Also another good thing, at least for me.... Headspace is in the same state as I am.... I can finally say something good came out of this state lol. If we live anywhere near each other I'll have to buy you a beer Headspace lol. Headspace Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 A couple of minor ideas: - Minimize to system tray. - Link to TARS homepage when clicking the logo/banner of the upper side of TARS. You don't need to keep the CP running-I should mention that in the FAQ, I think. 1
Morphine Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 As I said: I can make it do multiple PTT. That's not an issue. The issue is what to do about cases where people use voice activation. How about this. For later release (since this is going to take time to develop, and I'm interested in catching serious bugs in the short term): - If the user has PTT selected, then the binds become PTT binds, and will transmit on the given radio. - If the user has voice activation selected, then the binds function as they do now. Does that work for everyone? I can stick that on the to-do list. If that's possible Headspace, that would be the ultimate solution. My $0.02 on this issue is that the majority of the people using TARS are doing it to increase the realism/immersion and therefore voice-activation would be something they would be willing to give up quite easily in order to get PTT functionality similar to real world. In the meantime, I've done as you or someone else suggested and mapped both commands to my PTT buttons on my Cougar. For example, I send two keystrokes when pushing the VHF button. The first is the Radio Selection (e.g LCTl+1 [pulse]) and then the PTT for TS3 (e.g. ScrollLock [hold]). works pretty well so far. This can be programmed easily in both Target and Foxy.
mikey Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I played some coops tonight with 3 other guys, and it was almost perfect tonight. The only thing I noticed is that the addon didn't locally unmute players who moved to a different channel during the game and they stayed muted, but restarting TS fixed that problem. But so far the addon has worked fine with the 4 players that zeus/arma community has  I've got 99 problems but my Ekran ain't one

Headspace Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 DH is good for a lot of things but I use an internal means of bug reporting and tracking (for now). There are various reasons for that that are outside the scope of the thread. If you find a bug, use the reporting form on the site. I promise that someone does look at all of them and if possible, you will get a response.
Spetz Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Installed in yesterday. Today went online with the squadron and all of us that had it installed (DCS BS) had integrety check failures. Using Servman.. Checking off the "install TARS" did nothing..had to use back up copy of DCS BS..any one else?
Headspace Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) Installed in yesterday. Today went online with the squadron and all of us that had it installed (DCS BS) had integrety check failures. Using Servman.. Checking off the "install TARS" did nothing..had to use back up copy of DCS BS..any one else? I've been running it with the various people who have been testing it with me before the beta 1 release. No integrity check failures on vanilla BS 1.02, A-10 Beta 3, or A-10 Beta 4. Is your network.cfg set up to run integrity checks on additional folders, and if so, what folders? The Advanced section of the manual explains, in detail, everything that TARS does with your folders and files so that you know what's going on. I have attempted to "touch" as little of the DCS file structure as possible. Feel free to ping me on Skype (it's in my profile) if you need me to help you with this. EDIT: Nevermind, I know what the issue is. I'll have a patch for the control panel out ASAP that will resolve this problem for users. Edited January 16, 2011 by Headspace
Dalton Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Installed in yesterday. Today went online with the squadron and all of us that had it installed (DCS BS) had integrety check failures. Using Servman.. Checking off the "install TARS" did nothing..had to use back up copy of DCS BS..any one else? I had the same problem with DCS BS when I joined the 104th Server. "integrety check failure... It is also using Servman, may it has something to do with it...
zdXu Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 After TARS-installation: Integrity-check fail on Mulitplayer-servers. Cannot join any Multiplayer-server (tried 2 popular server). I am pissed cause i cant join Mulitplayer-servers. Which files do i have to delete in the BS-Shark-folder to uninstall TARS and bring my files to the original status?

I am working on a fix but in the meantime please uninstall and then replace the config.lua and Export.lua with the files attached to my post here (after unzipping). They're the original BS 1.02 ones. I'll be pushing the latest beta out tonight for people to test, which resolves the issue you're having--it will clean everything out properly on uninstall.config_export.zip Edited January 18, 2011 by Headspace
zdXu Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Was just searching for clean export.lua and config.lua-files. Your link comes at the right time. Thxs. I suggest 1) to create during TARS-installation two backup-files: .../config/export/export.bak and ...config.bak. 2) to add in your pdf-documentation a chapter "Uninstall" 3) to add a note in the readme-file, that during installation a pdf-manual is created with detailed informations Edited January 18, 2011 by zdXu
Headspace Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 That's a good idea, problem is, people may have other export related mods installed (tacview being the prime example). TARS does make a backup while it edits your files (so if there's a crash you can restore from them) but it doesn't persist these, because I don't want to end up inadvertently giving the false impression that "pristine" files were backed up. For instance: 1. You install TacView 2. You install TARS -> Backup Export.Lua 3. You uninstall TacView 4. You uninstall TARS Export.lua would not be pristine in that case. Beta 2 encodes the files correctly and will restore your file to pristine condition if you have no other mods installed. It also restores your export settings to what they were before you installed TARS (ExportEnabled in the config file).
Headspace Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 Beta 2 is out, go get it. This should resolve the control panel uninstalling issue--I'd recommend installing over a clean Export.lua and config.lua to be sure. However, removing the final carriage return (the last Export.lua character is a space in the original file) will fix the problem, if restoring from a fresh copy is not an option for you. I fixed a few minor bugs in the Teamspeak 3 plugin side of TARS. As stated in the post, current development efforts are geared towards fixing major bugs (which will be the focus of any near-term betas) and then bringing TARS in tandem with the upcoming release of Teamspeak 3. Enjoy.

zdXu Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) Can we join servers with integrity-check of the file export.lua now? Or are TARS Beta2 and the joining of multiplayer-servers with export.lua-check mutually exclusive? And i would appreciate some step by step cockpit-pics that show exactly what i have to do in the ka-50 cockpit to enable TARS, to mute TARS or to unmute TARS. Do i have to press any key to speak during flight when i have not choosen the automatic voice recognition in TS3? edit: added question Edited January 22, 2011 by zdXu
Headspace Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 Or are TARS Beta2 and the joining of multiplayer-servers with export.lua-check mutually exclusive? TARS uses Export and therefore there is no way to join servers which ban modifications to Export.lua when TARS is enabled. The fix to beta 2's control panel was correct reversion to the original Export.lua. And i would appreciate some step by step cockpit-pics that show exactly what i have to do in the ka-50 cockpit to enable TARS, to mute TARS or to unmute TARS. There's nothing involved in the cockpit to do any of that; it's enabled if it's enabled in Teamspeak 3 and all of that information is written down in step-by-step instructions in the manual.
