kingneptune117 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Out of the two missions ive played so far, both JTACs keep telling me "thanks for the work, you may depart." even though it was the first time ive contacted them. oho Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 JTAC worked for me in the Quick-mission-generator with Beta3. Although I get a CTD after some time.

636_Castle Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Haha this is funny, I just exited after a disappointing mission with the AFAC, same exact problem, decided to scan the forums and saw this. Yeah I just flew the mission called midnight train or something? I orbited for 25 minutes and all I kept getting from AFAC was "Thanks for the work, you may depart!" He DID mention some light armor once, but I still only had the option of "checking in" with him. Only time I got JTAC to work was when it was scripted and included actual recorded voice, and it wasn't the actual dynamic JTAC. Looking forward to trying out other missions though and seeing if it works. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!
Nixer Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I find that just checking in with them once and waiting till they find a target works best.

Also, if they were scanning for targets but didnt have any, they would say that, not that we can depart. They would tell us to wait. Nixer Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Here's a simple AFAC mission that actually works. :joystick: Just wait till the AFAC says he is on station and check in, then follow instructions. Just don't report as "In" on the first (CBU) run in, as he will call "ABORT" because the convoy is moving and he'll stop communicating. Once the convoy stops and disperses the "In" call works fine. Geskes Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 If you contact a "dynamic" FAC, ie a FAC that does not have set targets but a FAC that spots and then leads you to target will stop functioning correctly if you contact it before it has called a spot message over the radio. You have to go to his frequency and wait till he spots something, then contact him. This way you can play that mission midnight train fine with the fac module. kingneptune117 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 WIP :) Yep, I got that since the first beta came out. The thing is, I had to do a really weird method of installing on beta 3 since it at first gave me an error. Just wanted to make sure the problem wasn't on my end. jazjar Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 The JTAC in the Khashuri Gap mission is buggy, I don't know if it's the arnold schwarzennager/ Che Guevara foreign macho pilots over the radio ruining it but the jtac gives me the data, then I'm left with "9-line readback" as my only menu option. The JTAC in every other mission will just result in game crash if I dare try and contact them. worked fine in Beta 2, but I just don't know what happened. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jazjar Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I meant for someone to reply to this [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Geskes Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I am also having plenty of crashes I didnt experience before. JTAC crashes seem regular judging from the amount of posts about it. I wouldn't worry to much about it, it will be fixed. I7920/12GBDDR3/ASUS P6T DELUXE V2/MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G /WIN 10 Ultimate/TM HOTAS WARTHOG
tflash Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 For me, in the Beta 3 patch the JTAC is screwed. When I do one engagement and there is something left to kill, I do not get any valid dialog anymore. So basically JTAC doesn't work anymore. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nixer Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 If you try that simple AFAC I linked earlier it works. At least it did for me in Beta 3. Just don't call "in" after reporting IP till the convoy stops moving. And don't contact the AFAC at all till he checks in ON STATION.
aceflier Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 (edited) Hmm just made a mission with 2 jtac's no issues that I've noticed if ya want to play around with it. Here ya go... Jtac 1 is on fm 30mhz Jtac 2 is on fm 31mhz Awacs is on fm 32mhz Tanker is on fm 33mhz (keeping it simple)jtac_refuel_praccy.miz Edited November 20, 2010 by aceflier [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jazjar Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 In the "MIdnight train to georgia" mission, even after I wait for the f-16s to call contact on the russians, they still respond with "no further tasking available". Is there a second contact report? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rhino4 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 At least you all have been able to contact the jtac. I set my radio to the correct frequency and get no response no matter how long I wait...
jazjar Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Well now that sucks, hope it'll get fixed. The AFAC in the midnight train to georgia mission seems to be a necessary unit to play, too bad he doesn't function properly. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
HiJack Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 At least you all have been able to contact the jtac. I set my radio to the correct frequency and get no response no matter how long I wait... You must make the first call with the menu command :D
jazjar Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) Someone on these forums ( no offense to them ) said you had to wait for the f16s to call contact on the russian tanks ( midnight train to georgia ) before they could give you target assignments, well, I tried this and it still doesn't work; checking out the scripting for the mission. Nixer Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Any kind of airborne AFAC has a BIG problem with seeing stationary targets. The only sure way I have found of making them see stationary targets is to set them immortal and fly them so low that the target engages them.
