goldfinger35 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 goldfinger, you are using the missions downloaded from the first post? Yes. And beta 3. i7 920@4.0Ghz, 12 GB RAM, ATI 4890, LG L246WHX@1920x1200, Saitek X52 Pro, Saitek pro flight rudder pedals, TrackIR4, Audigy 2ZS, Logitech G9x, Vista 64bit.
CrashEd Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Yes. And beta 3. It works fine for me (Beta 2 though ;))
MainSail Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 It works fine for me (Beta 2 though ;)) None problems here with the landing mission on Beta 3. Win10-X64, I5,-8600K oc-4,8Ghz, 16GB DDR4, MSI RTX 2080ti, HOTAS Warthog, MFG crosswind pedals, KW-908 Jetseat , HTC Vive with lens mod.
chaos Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) Landing Training Mission; I've followed the instructions to the letter but I've set the HSI to 123 as instructed. It works flawlessly. In general I find the instructions (for a novice) too quick. A lot of extra information I could do without. I have enough time to position myself. I would've timed the turn to final a bit sooner so as to not overshoot the localizer. There's one glaring mistake; The instructor explains that the AOA indexer but the accompanying text does not 'say' the same thing. The text doesn't reflect the way it is implemented in the cockpit. Love the crew-chief running to meet me... I've never had somebody do that for me :) One last thing... there's UH-1 half burried right of the runway... Topcat357 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 TGP training During the TGP Training Mission, I am asked to switch to Waypoint 4(Range)...make the waypoint SPI...and target an unnamed target in the area. The problem occurs when I target one of the enemy trucks parked and/or roaming the area. If one of the vehicles is targeted, the tutorial will not continue. I don't think a specific target or target type is mentioned. I found (on a 2nd run thru) that targeting a building in the area was acceptable and allowed the tutorial to continue. This is definitely not a huge problem...but can be confusing for us noobs. If the instructor does specify the building as a target, I must have missed it (twice!) and I apologize. Also, it would be nice to be able to hit the Spacebar early to skip some of the long basic instructions (especially when you are running the tutorial for the 3rd time...trying to get to the fun stuff!) Thanks for a great sim! TC
goldfinger35 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 It would be helpful if someone could post a track of landing mission. Thanks. i7 920@4.0Ghz, 12 GB RAM, ATI 4890, LG L246WHX@1920x1200, Saitek X52 Pro, Saitek pro flight rudder pedals, TrackIR4, Audigy 2ZS, Logitech G9x, Vista 64bit.
Frederf Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Will do later. I'm liking my runs through the training missions. Quite a few of the instrument highlight boxes need to be corrected for z-axis, usually engine instruments or the G/S window in the ADI. They are X/Y correct but buried in the dash on the Z-axis which causes some parallax issues if the viewpoint is changed. It's also a pretty rash assumption that the user hasn't changed to controls at all. It might be too much work to slot in all possible keyboard commands into the voice files or dynamically link the text to the current control scheme, but the "press space bar to continue" should have "(trigger)" after it because that's what the software is actually looking for. Took me a few minutes to figure out with some "under the hood" thinking and I did help one person who posted on the forums considering himself stuck/bugged because of the space bar issue.
CrashEd Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 During the TGP Training Mission, I am asked to switch to Waypoint 4(Range)...make the waypoint SPI... I also noticed that in the TGP mission, LSS is referred to as being OSB 5 and LSR as OSB 6. I think they should be OSB 6 & 7 respectively?
jctrnacty Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Those interactive missions are perfect, it helps to widen sim market for beginners. Kudos to ED , good job. The training mission are perfect but they lack real life usability. Examples how i would make it different. The only thing I would improve is - in CM training i would try to show how to set up CM for different conditions (sam 1, sam2 , a-a) and which sequence to use. Yes the training tells us everything about system but i dont know what sequence to use to different threats. in mav and guided bombs and other weapons system again, we know everything about how to use the LP II and how to zoom in and out and all options it has but better way is to make interactive mission with for example steering point 4 where are 4 tanks and lead the pilot by the hand step by step to use one weapon or the another. 1. press master arm on 2 press tgp on 3. bla bla on and on . . 20. shoot the tank next to small biulding 21. .press fire button For me missions are good but i am skilled simmer. I cant imagine sim noob to show him possibilities of the system and then let him to extrapolate it to campaign mission. I hope you understand what i mean. Anyway interactive mission is the best thing that happened to sim market. Thanks ED. CrashEd Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 ^^ Not a bad idea. Perhaps we could have another sub heading in the Training Mission section that is labelled 'Advanced' for those of us who really want to learn some serious systems info/tactics. I'd also like to see an 'advanced' training mission on SAM evasion - something that has never been taught in any sim as far as I am aware (training mission-wise). There are some excellent videos on YT for Flaming Cliffs 2, but it would be good to have a proper training mission included with the sim  It's hard to find info on this stuff unless someone has created a video on YT.

Headspace is working on that very video. Early Dec I think was his ETA. Gigha Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 If the "Sync cockpit control with HOTAS at mission start" option is selected it appears to cause problems with the Autopilot operation [i.e.does not function] Only tried on Nav and Landing training missions so far. If Sync function is off, the training mission Autopilot operates correctly when the trainer engages it. [note - TM Warthog]
kylania Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Gigha, yeah, that setting was causing my start-in-flight missions to start with my engines turning off if I didn't have the throttle in the proper place, so I've since disabled that option. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
El_Roto Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I'm enjoying the new TMs as well. I'd like to see something changed however: that text disappears after a time even if you haven't completed the task at hand. If I'm stuck, I need that info even more. Just a thought. Scarecrow Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) The Start Up procedure mssion doesn't include the instruction to switch on the radar altimeter on the LASTE panel. The counter measures mission has crashed both times i've tried it at the same point right after the Mig has fired it's missile. Will report back any other issues. PS Training Missions are much better now though:thumbup: Edit: The Maverick training mission, after your first pass with the AGM-65H you're told to make a second pass with the 65H (it should be D the IR variant)DxDiag.txt Edited November 24, 2010 by Scarecrow
CrashEd Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Headspace is working on that very video. Early Dec I think was his ETA. Cool beans :) ----------------------------------- Just for the record, I'm getting a 'hitch' in the A2A mission just after the training geezer tells you to uncage the AIM-9M. After you do that, there is no further response from said tutor. I can also confirm the crash in the Countermeasures training mission, as reported by others. I'm running beta 2.
kylania Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Tried the A2A one tonight and had pretty bad results. I was able to hold a 236 KIAS speed pretty well and level flight. I found, locked and shot down the first Su pretty easy. I could not for the life of me find the other one. Especially less so once it started racetracking! I was essentially squinting and trying to follow the damn thing on the map but just was having NO luck getting eyes on it again. Finally I spotted it and flew towards it getting a lock with the TGP. Doing so changed my altitude and speed to the point where I almost overshot it. While I was slowing down the game finally realized I was near it and told me to get level altitude and make the HUD SOI. I did so, then it turned and I lost it in the terrain. About 20 minutes later and two circles across the water I finally caught a slight glimpse of it's pixel lost in the HUD symbology. I said f' it and shot it down with my other Sidewinder. Lets just say, no more Air to Air for me thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
LordWolf Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I think the problem with new countermeasures training is that if you keep it on auto, it drops all of the flares / chaffs and the game crashes after the next text...
CrashEd Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 ^^ Interesting, will try this with Auto off i.e. semi or manual.
LordWolf Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 ^^ Interesting, will try this with Auto off i.e. semi or manual. At some point, you will need to put it on auto. Just let it be for a second, then turn it on semi, and use 8 to stop releasing flares/chaff. I managed to finish the tutorial that way.

I switched it back to semi after and it still crashed for me, seems to be the missile launch in my case.
EvilBivol-1 Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 I think most of the crashes your are seeing are related to some 3D model LOD issues as you near the Batumi area. Also, when I flew these, they were not actual crashes, but very long pauses. If you wait, the game might continue on after eating a few seconds of play time. Of course these issues are being addressed. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
july865 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 i am having an issue with the training missions. everytime the instructor states. " press spacebar to begin". nothing happens. i have let the mission run for several minutes, but still nothing. i thought it was because i didnt have anything mapped to the spacebar. so i mapped something trivial. i think it was multi-player messaging... but still no no avail. it has to be something i have setup because i dont see any other post with this issue.
