derelor Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Thank you very much for the BFT01 update. I just tried the mission (BFT v1.0 final) with A-10C v1.1.0.6 and noticed the following: 1. After the voice says “Let me check your checklist items” I don't get any feedback at all. Instead the next thing I hear is: “speed it up, you're falling behind”. I wasn't even informed I had to follow... 2. When taxiing on the runway, voice says “Ignore the tower for now Cadet”, but I don't hear the tower saying anything. Probably my fault, I should have tuned the radios, right? 3. On the runway, I hear “Hey Cadet! Check out the flight on the right! I wonder where those choppers are headed?”, but there are no choppers in sight. 4. After finishing shutting down the aircraft I hear “OK Cadet. Let's test your ground handling skills. Engage your Nose Wheel Steering an follow me!” instead of receiving my grade. I'll try the mission again later today to see if I can reproduce. Keep up the good work! derelor 1338 - beyond leet ED Forum rules EN|DE|RU

Keep up the good work! derelor 1) After playing the scenario a couple times, I just had my hand on the throttle and started chasing the humvee as soon as he took off. But you're right, a little direction could have helped! 2) I didn't hear anything either, maybe if I had tuned the radio, but like you I didn't. Either way, this didn't have an effect on the outcome of the mission so, IMO, eh. 3) Did you notice that the humvee stops rather abruptly soon after he says this? Probably trying to catch people not paying attention to where they're going! 4) Once again (as in 2) I heard this, but didn't move and it didn't affect the outcome of the mission at all. There's a rather pregnant pause while the "IP" checks your settings, so just be patient and he'll let you know if you're good to go or not!

hassata Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 so just stick the folder anywhere and navigate to the miz file I assume is inside (not at my machine)? The download gave me a 5mb folder. thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I haven't tested the mission against the latest patch version so it may have changed the program behavior. 1. If you missed a checklist item the program should tell you and if you didn't then it should say "Ok Cadet. Let's test your ground handling skills. Follow me!" but you got that message at the end of the mission. Looks like the flags got screwed up somehow. I'll try it again on my system with the latest patched version and see if I get the same results. 2. Yes you won't hear Batumi unless the radios are on and tuned 131.0Mhz. 3. There is a timed flyover so it is possible the timing got messed up and the choppers had already overflown. Can you send me a track and I'll see what they did. 4. From what it sounds like the flags got messed up and you got that message at the end of the mission instead of at the beginning. Please send me a track file and I'll investigate. Thanks. The download gave me a 5mb folder. thanks I usually put my downloaded missions into the "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\DCS Warthog\Missions" folder so they show up when selecting a mission. There is also "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Missions" folder too. I don't think it matters which folder you choose. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates

Sabre-TLA Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Here is a track showing the mentioned problems (not number 2, since I tuned the radios this time). I patched my system and replayed the mission. It played fine with the exception of the choppers not doing their flypast. Maybe thats a good thing as the cadet will be looking for them and not pay attention and likely crash into the FE's humvee earning an Unqual rating :) I'll take a closer look at both track files to see why things were different in yours than mine. Sabre-TLA Posted March 28, 2011 Author Posted March 28, 2011 Did I miss BFT03 ??? ...or is this yet to come? Can't find it on DCS user files. It's still being worked. We may release the missions out of order (doing them as quickly and conveniently as we can). The intent is to include them in an overall campaign then they will be sequenced correctly. shagrat Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Ah, ok! So I'll just wait. Good job by the way! I like these missions where we focus on flying and skills you need to master the aircraft rather than "just" bombing stuff - not that I don't like a good bombing run or immersive battle missions. derelor Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Thanks for your work, SabreTLA. I just tried the new BFT04 and had the following problem: While flying from WP2 to WP3, I was never told to "turn left" to the direction of the runway. So I kept flying straight "forever". Is that the way it's supposed to be? I would have expected a radio message like "Now it's time to approach the runway. Make a turn to Batumi airfield". Thanks, derelor 1338 - beyond leet ED Forum rules EN|DE|RU
Sabre-TLA Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) Thanks for your work, SabreTLA. Thanks, derelor Hi derelor, I debated about putting a message like that in but then I realized that this PO is about approach and landing so the FE is expecting the Cadet to make the right decision about when to turn to the runway. The FE does say: "Turn left towards the airport and make your descent to the pattern altitude. Enter the pattern when ready and maintain 230 knots. The Hard Deck restriction is terminated." Maybe I should have the FE warn the Cadet if they miss the pattern. I'm sure you will find that the mission does play well if you make your approach as instructed and enter the pattern at the appropriate time. Maybe a diagram for the approach and pattern would be useful? Here is some info and a diagram: "TRAFFIC PATTERN A standard rectangular flight pattern around the landing runway at an airport. Includes 45-degree or crosswind entry to the rectangle, with downwind, base and final legs as sides of the rectangle. Standard are 90-degree left turns around the rectangle (non-standard right-hand traffic pattern is noted in Airport Facility Directories) with downwind flown at a specified altitude, usually 1,000 or 1,500 feet above the airport elevation. At airports with a control tower; the pattern may be modified or short-cut according to ATC instructions." http://www.dodgenaircraft.com/images%5Ccompany%5Ctraffic%20pattern.jpg Edited April 3, 2011 by Sabre-TLA MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
VMFA117_Poko Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Maybe I should have the FE warn the Cadet if they miss the pattern.Yes. Maybe something like: "What are you waiting for rookie? For special invitation? Turn left!" ;)
