Been computing and simming since 1982 and I have never anticipated a fix, patch, update, or service release as much as I have for DCS A-10!! If you don't count the Windows 3.1 to present RTM vers. I paid for and still waiting for...

You do realize that for each time I read a whine like this, your Karma is getting lower scores?

You'll get beta 6. Maybe beta 7 too. Should we expect the same whine when we wait for beta 8?

Seriously, what about beta 4 is making everyone so fricken nuts? I having a helluva time with b4 right now and STILL have not read the entire manual.

Actually, it's a real photo. Photographers can still manage to capture an amazing picture once in awhile.

And yet it is accredited to a real photographer snapping it for a real magazine or newspaper.

None of it is photoshopped - once more, keep amateur 'photoshop' accusations off this forum ;)

Really? I'd do my best to assist you if you can't because B4 is a pretty huge simulation - complete or not.

Hopefully you can at least run any of the previous betas because as long as I've been running them, they all challenge me. I really haven't been affected by many of the the bugs that have been addressed after beta3 because I've been just so focused on learning the aircraft and systems (I think I purchased during B2). Maybe it was B1. No matter.

Huge study sim, with lots to experience. Lots to learn. But if you are missing all this, you are really missing something special. I have not been this 'into' it since buying FalconX? with 3-ring binder doc. I actually feel like I need to dig that book out of the closet now because of DSC A-10. Maybe I should re-read some of my old Jane's title docs too because back then, it seemed a lot of the sim docs included more than just the button functions, they also included lessons and docs on how to survive.

MAKE your system happy with the beta's if you can.

Then, there was Amy from next door, who was the KC-135. --never could persuade her to connect.

Uh... ~wince~ I would rather that Amy be the A-10 and >I< was the KC-135... I mean... boom and all. (think about it)

I see it and the angles of the shadows line up. Please, keep the amateur 'photoshop' shouting for some other place.

As a photographer and one of those despised photoshoppers I can suggest that it is not advisable to use apparent shadow angles as a reliable indicator to whether or not an image is a comp job or not. Different surfaces may be at different angles than they appear and can strike shadows that don't seem right and may lead you to draw incorrect conclusions. If they are out by miles which some very sharp and others diffuse, then maybe then, but generally don't bet the house just on shadows.

A famous case of this is some of the Apollo moon landing photos having odd shadows leading some over enthusiastic conspiracy theorists to believe they where being lite by poorly set up stage lights in a studio. Where in fact it was case of rising and falling ground that wasn't apparent in the photo causing the shadows to diverge and/or converge.

I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.

I had the same thought when I read his statement... but then I thought "what if he were flying around in something like a Hornet or Tomcat, or even Intruder with his boom constantly sticking out. Then Amy could be a KC-135 with the basket and he would then need to plug the boom in..." well, I'm sure you get the idea, hehe.

I think you're barkin up the wrong tree pal. Mower's one of the good guys. Always helpful courteous and up beat. I believe that what you see as a whine is just purposely exaggerated urgency. I'm with you though.. as illustrated here.

That is not.. repeat.. not your target Echo 1.. eyes on village idiots at another thread, 180 for 10. You're cleared to engage.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

I concur... As someone who has worked with photoshop for a living in a post production environment for over 10 years. I can conclude that this is not a fake. Trust me... I have done some very convincing photoshop fakery for campaigns in the past - but this is not one of them.

The noise and grain across mid-tones are a perfect match between the building and the aircraft. Aliasing on the railings of the balcony perfectly integrate with the background and show no signs of cloning or any artifacts that would indicate the insertion behind of a background plate. The edges on the Hornet are perfect, no feathering from cropping out. Also, difference analysis across the whole image fail to show up any feathering in the sky gradient from an inserted plate. This combined with the providence of the journalist and publication... I conclude the image is genuine.

And all that analysis certainly provided a great way to kill a few hours on a slow afternoon at work while waiting for beta 6. ;-)

Call me skeptical, but I think my wife is just a photoshoped impostor. Those couldn't be real. Also, if you look at her left eye in the light there's a errant pixel. I've thought about working with the contrast and turning her into a sweaty sultry Puerto Rican.
