I am not trolling. Its just all I hear on this forum is how perfect the WH is. The 940 is trash. Blah blah blah. Not sure what else I could dream my 940 could do. It takes my flight inputs and translates them to the game. I do not use profiles, just use in game mapping with great success. I agree, none are perfect so the constant fanboism about which is the one someone should buy is annoying. That is what I was mocking. All HOTAS have the support threads about how to fix such and such, and make something better. The $500 WH is no different.

Well technically true but in the end the result is thesame theWT is programable, and in more ways the 940 dev team could dream.

Also it sports many more buttons and features the 940 doesn t have.

Ok it doesnt have rudders coming in.

 

But i would take the risk of bricking warthog anyday over the limited-for-ever the 940 is.

Just because g940 is a fixed pproblem, and the WT bricking is a even is scary or more widened spread than acceptable problem, is still low, and they are changing the units. With the 940 you would have to change all the system.

I been taking a look at what the USB ports/ hubs do on shutdown/ start up, at least in relation to my CH gear (why do I do this? I was looking at replacing it for the WH and don't want to lay out a lot of cash to get on an RMA merry-go-round).

Anyways... I've noticed the USB stays powered on PC shutdown but the profile indicator LED on the CH gear kicks over to #3 (I don't use the CH programmer, or have it installed), so this must indicate a "standby" mode?

 

 

On starting up the PC and after POST but before the log in screen appears, the profile indicator LED kicks over from #3 (standby?) back to #1 (which is basically where I have the CH gear set for normal use). This is consistent with the hub being powered or non powered.

a little insight into the bricking issue with the throttles;

 

(My first throttle died after 3 weeks of use, serial number around 1100)

 

When plugging in the throttle I would get the "USB device not recognized" message.

I was told by TM customer support (I was fine with their level of support but they could have been a little quicker with their replies...) that my case was hopeful, because some peoples throttles were not being recognized at all.

None of their over the phone fixes had any effect on the device, so I finally sent it back to get it fixed.

It was returned to me after about 1 1/2 weeks (I was impressed given the fact that this was during the holidays)

 

I was surprised to find that my first throttle was simply replaced (the original was not in pristine condition thanks to a very excitable cat that I'm unfortunate enough to live with...)

So its cheaper, or a lot faster for TM to just send out a replacement and presumably recycle the parts of the defective units back into production.

Just thought it was interesting that a "firmware issue" would warrant writing off the cost of an additional throttle unit...

 

Anyway, all is well now, back to enjoying my new toy. Still waiting on TM for my shipping refund though...:wallbash:

Combination of buttons, whilst powering up, is my theory Seccellus. I wouldn't say its the buttons being set the wrong way but a certain combination of buttons in the active state, when powering up or switching over from standby.

This trapdoor, as you call it, is even more scary than a simple defective batch.

If its true it can happens to anyone, and go figure the combination with so much possibilities.

Maybe letting the WT always powered as said above is the solution.

 

But we know for sure that this first FW update doesn t solve it, but probably reduced the probabilities of Bricking happening.

That is, if there s only one bricking type.

Exactly. Nothing significant about the number other than it is the same for anyone above 10 years old and less than 100 years old. I think it's cool! :D

I had to get them on the phone, the e-mail responses were non existent

It took me about 1 week to wrench the RMA # from them.(many emails and calls)

It took another 1 week for my throttle to be shipped up there.

It took another 1 week of waiting with no reply(then i called to see whats up, only to be told i will get a call back- still waiting for that)

So, today is the beginning of week 4. Looks like im gonna have to call again to resort things out again.

 

At the very least, i've lost a month and gained an extra shipping charge.

 

This really makes me disappointed. My work would never allow this kind of pseudo customer service policy.

Resellers of the TM Warthog should offer an option of replacement warranty, at additional cost. I replaced several Saiteks at local Best Buy that way.
