Hey all, still contemplating pulling the trigger on this sim. I just built a new rig and am just starting to jump back into the sim world as I gave up after FSX a while back...

I would be curious to know what type of FPS numbers you guys are getting on high end systems, mainly Sandy Bridge setups if possible.

I am now running:

i7 2600K OC'd to 4.5Ghz

8gb DDR-1600 Ram

EVGA GTX 570 Superclock

OCZ Vertex 2 SSD

Are we Bragging???Full Specs Please?? Originpc.com has Sandy Bridge at 5ghx+ and stable...Doubt you will find much on FPS, as it is so new...You did not post your FPS either???WHY??, Cheers, Jim

currently I am running 40-60FPS, but i am not a Sandy Bridge either, see Specs below. I am not overclocked at all, So I think my hardware Will last longer??

FPS is so subjective. Depends on a warm and fuzzy guess. I wish we had a certain track the community can bench to get an avg on fps. I know in IL2 community we would use a track called black death to benchmark and compare.

Haven't benchmarked or checked fps yet, but I haven't seen any stuttering or slowdowns with most settings at full running 1680 x 1050. I expect you will be way more than fine.

You will have no cause for complaint. The lowest I've seen so far (mirrors, mav, TGP screen on, everything on highest plus lots of action) is in the 20's (some kind of weird anomaly over a city), but normally 80+, often above 100.

I reckon your pretty much the best rig money can currently buy will probably be able to handle this sim quite well :) - I think there are more optimisations coming with Beta 5 so it should only get better...You will probs see an increase from a consistent 100fps to 103 or so :D

my specs below in sig.

i have my frame rate locked at 60 in game aswell as forcing it in the nvidia controlle panel as im not running a conventional "computer monitor" and i get alot of tearing if vsync is not enabled.

Most the time i see it around the 60 but does drop to 25-30 sometimes lower depends on whats goin on.

See the specs in my sig. With i5 2500k at 4.8Ghz and an overclocked gtx 570 my fps at 1920*1080 at max details are always smooth and most of the time greater then 60fps even at full airports. You won't have any troubles with your rig.

A question slightly off topic - How did you overclock your CPU from 2.6 to 4.5? I have the same CPU and my knowledge on overclocking is at minimum. I plan to buy the Corsair H70 CPU cooler to keep temps on a minimum. All my other specs are below in my sig.

BTW I'm getting a stable 60-70 fps and near high object areas (cities and airbases) around 20 to 30 fps (almost everything is on high settings at 1600x1050 res).

Did you use any software or did you use the BIOS to overclock? Also, how long does it take to overclock a CPU?

First off, thanks guys for all the info, you have renewed my faith in sims again. FSX left a very bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully, gone are the days of framerate dipping into the single digits....

Innerloop,

I am pretty amatuerish when it comes to overclocking but this new sandy bridge chip OC's like nobodys business. I did a bit of research and got lucky becasue I had just decided to build a new rig for the first time in 5 years.

From what I can tell, it looks like you have an easily overclockable chip as well and should look into doing so. I actually bought the Corsair H50, the model under yours and it works wonders for overclocking.

I didn't check if linking to other sites was permitted but overclock.net has tons of information on overclocking the i7-920. From what I understand, they are pushing 4Ghz as well.

Yea to overlock Sandy cpus you only have to change two settings in bios, clock ratio and vcore, very easy.

Not to go off topic but...

How many volts are you putting to your cpu? I have read many different opinions on what is acceptable. Some people say 1.45-1.55 others say dont go past 1.35.

I am 4.5Ghz @ 1.30

I use a maximum of ~1.4v for 24/7. Tested 1.54 with no problems, too. I've not seen a damaged Sandy cpu yet, most of the things people say about the voltage are rumors. For nehalem 24/7 maximum was around ~1.4v, so I will keep that.

4.8? Wow. What sort of cooling setup do you have? What temperatures are you getting with that?

I thought Sandy only used 2 channel memory? your Sig is showing 3 channel???:book:

Yes, the ones released for LGA1155 use dual channel memory, but his sig is still correct, you are probably thinking that DD3 means 3 channel. :)

Edit: Was unclear what I meant :)

Hello,

Is overclocking really dangerous for DCS:-10C?

No, it should make it run better and should have no effect on DCS A-10 (the software)

hold on for beta 5 befor droping a load of money we are all having problems. I cant get over 30 FPS

Probably a good idea...

I am waiting for the Logitech G940 to go back on sale as well as I saw it down to $200 a couple months ago. All I have now is a stick with a slider throttle and twist rudder...

i would agree. If I knew it was in the current shape it is in now I would have waited but I dont mind " complaining " helping along with everyone else! Anyone starting it up for the first time should do so after picking low settings and a small resolution for starters. Its not optimized yet.
