I went for a quick flight. It made the heavy spring in the cougar manageable. I used to have my cougar center mounted. This feels way better than just elevating the base. I gained at least 10 inches of travel on the top of the stick. A I still have get a ps2 cable to hack apart. Then I can get the buttons to work again.

Hello Soviet. The single set screw is stopping the pipe from coming out. There is a very good fit between the adaptor and the tube so there is no play.

All the set screw is doing is preventing the tube from slipping, it doesn't add any 'strength' to the system.

Because the fit os good it is applying pressure to a large surface area, i.e. the opposite sode of the tube against the bored hole.

In summary, no problems :)

Orders, I thought I had well and truly quashed all interest after posting the price ;)

I know it seems steep until you see how much time is involved in doing them one at a time without the tooling that you would buy if you were doing lots of them.

I have had the conversation with a couple people in private mail and the truth is that I don't mind doing them but I can't put other paying work to the side to do these for less. That kind of puts it in the luxury item basket but I can assure you that if you take it to your local machinist he will probably not give you a better price to do it this way.

For doing out of aluminum and machining work 75 is pretty cheap. Don't sell yourself short. I would be willing to make more of mine. But it doesnt compare.

Here is one about to go out the door, it's what the aluminium tube version looks like.

The thread on the warthog is a little bit of a pain. It's close to 2mm metric pitch but not exactly according to my pitch gauge, it means more time on trial and error because I have to undersize it slightly to get a good fit. Works in the end though.

Now there is an idea, just chop a section out of the car seat I am using :) I never thought of it but I am not sure I am ready to see if it will crumble with a section gone.

I have had a few Q's about the wiring. Here is what you need to do. You can buy a ps2 extension. They come in in 6 feet lengths.

You need to break off one pin from the male plug. Use something to wriggle it around and it will snap at the base. about 6 moves side to side will do it.

Use something to break off the plastic tab on the male plug. It will break easily enough at the bottom when you push from the side near the top. Push it away from any pins.

On the female side you need to drill or somehow make the slot longer. I went at it with a big drill bit here (3.2mm) you could do it with something smaller. As long as you dont break any of the connectors near by it doesn't matter.

The pic highlights what you need to break.

Very nice work mate and very good price.. Just to get a bolt cut with a custom/rare thread will set you back $40-50.

Already selling ? :D

But i have a question, what the weight of the aluminiom extension?

and whats the weight of the Carbon extension ?

Not worried about international fret, but the weight upon the stick mechanism.

What difference does the weight, which would be negligable considering either would be lighter than your hand or arm, and also be totally irrelevent depending on how you mount the stick anyway?

I don't remember the weight. The only time I weighed it was at the beginning with the CF.

Having posted a few I know that packaged ap with the bubblewrap/cardboard they were weighing from 250-300grams , the variation would largely be on extension size (4"-8") and how much cardboard I used for each one. Thgats 8.8 - 10.5 oz including packaging.

I would guess they were about 6oz.

I have done 13 of them I think and now run out of the stock I had. Because I need to buy a minimum length I won't be making any more adaptors unless I get 6 orders and that is looking unlikely at this point. I only have ~ 2 people interested.

Thanks to those who ordered though, hope you like your modded stick!

Thinking about it, your probably right. But there s still the fact that when you move the stick your hand ain t adding meight, at least much les than when resting it on idle position.

Some people (in the frazer thread) brought this issue since if not propely greased due many plastic pieces in the throttle it could bring play over time.

I was just wondering how much it would weight. 6oz more or les 170 grams.

I dont think weight is an issue, I think the more relevant thing is the additional leverage you have if you hit the limits hard. It would take some effort to stress the base with the default stick but less effort with a 6/8" extension.

You would have to be a flying maniac to do that though.

Hi guys, I don't mean to keep peddling my wares but I have four guys wanting an extension and it's not cost effective to make them at that price unless I do at least 6.

So if there are a couple people wanting one then flick me a PM as I don't think I will get another 6 people so quick.

Thanks!

Buy it guy's - the added fine pitch control it gives you is awesome. Have one bought myself and can only say - it is worth the price.

Hi All, I have been very busy lately but finally got around to sending a pm to those who have enquired.

A note for other people who may be interested. I have had to change the price from $75 to $80. Not a big price jump but when I set the price I didn't factor a couple things in.

I can do it at this price because I do it in my down time, if I am busy it doesn't make sense to be making these instead but I love my simming and I know you guys do to so I can make modest amounts of them at a reasonable cost - they are all made manually on manual machines.

Out of the ~ 30 orders to date I have had a bad experience with two and it's really held things up for them. Two packages to germany went missing. I have encouraged people to use the cheaper shipping because it doesnt take too much longer and nearly half the price. Given these two went missing I would suggest that you do pay for a coutier with tracking but that is entirely up to you.

As I live in New Zealand the shipping price is not fantastic and it's basically $20USD anywhere or $35usd for courier with tracking anywhere. The exception being australia as they are so close and I can look up your price when you order.

I have enough people to make a batch, awaiting them to all confirm that they are still interested.

If anyone else is thinking about it I would do it now or it could be a while until I can do more.

Thanks!

metalnwood... I am pretty sure this will fit on the HOTAS Cougar but just to confirm... if not too late I would like to get your extention as well... I would like it quite short actually... I'd like to extend my stick by about 10cm only, maybe even less... I'm thining I could do with the 2 joints brought together only... is this possible without you having to adjust things much.. if not I can still shorten the tube :)
