Greb Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Nvidia Driver Update! For those using Nvidia on 64 bit systems, they have new drivers available. Gonna try them out, will let ya know! 1
mtuckner Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Wish I could as well. My new GTX 580 died on me and won't have a replacement for a couple weeks.
WarriorX Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Thanks for the heads up Greb! getting them now. BTW Greb, do you follow the Uninstall/Driver Cleaner/Reinstall method? I have always done it that way and now I read in the Nvidia install procedures that that is not needed anymore. http://www.nvidia.com/object/drivers_faq.html Q: Do I need to uninstall my older driver first? A: No. It used to be the case that an uninstall was first required. Today the recommended method is to overinstall the newer driver on top of your older driver. This will allow you to maintain any current NVIDIA Control Panel settings or profiles. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Is that you John Wayne?.......Is this me?" It may be overkill but you only have to do it once. New driver are definitely an improvement. Nothing earth shattering but a tad faster, and a little crisper.
Wolf Rider Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 the newer drivers from nVidia have a clean install option contained within the driver setup. select the custom option, which also allows for 3D driver, audio driver and physx software install options City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." mtuckner Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Any FPS improvements found after the updated driver?
Cali Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Any FPS improvements found after the updated driver? I wouldn't count on anything, maybe it's just me but I haven't updated a driver that I saw a difference in yet. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Napa Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) I don't see any difference either. But there is better stability. Old drivers crashed & recovered occasionally, although I had a momentarily crash & recover driver (with the new ones) after I cleaned the case and graphics card with a mini air compressor :music_whistling: Edited January 26, 2011 by Innerloop Intel i7 12700k / Corsair H150i Elite Capellix / Asus TUF Z690 Wifi D4 / Corsair Dominator 32GB 3200Mhz / Corsair HW1000W / 1x Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus 500Gb + 1 Corsair MP600 1TB / ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 OC V2 / Fractal Design Meshify 2 / HOTAS Warthog / TFRP Rudder / TrackIR 5 / Dell U2515h 25" Monitor 1440p
