Hi all,

I noticed that there is no Mk-20 for the A10C.

Before, in Lockon, the A10A was able to carry those bombs.

Has the C version lost the capability to use this bomb ? Is that normal if this bomb is missing from the inventory ?

I loved those bombs in Lock-on, they were great against convoys !

So... ?

:)

It is no longer in inventory. It has been replaced by the CBU-87.

So the Air force don't use the Mk20 on A10 anymore...I'm sad :)

CBU-87 doesn't looks as efficient as the Mk-20... :)

They went with ballute because it's cheaper IIRC. Snakeyes are gone I think.

Not trying to steal the thread, but on a different weapon... with the Mk 82Air bombs, is it possible to maybe get the old style Snakeye fins? Those always looked awesome the way the fins popped out.

Dont use snakeyes anymore either straight up AIR or LD

While we are speaking about CBU :

Say me if I make a mistake :

-CBU-87 is the "normal" cluster bomb(a "sort of" Mk-20).

-CBU-105 is a CBU-87 with a wind corrected dispenser. (More precise than the classical CBU-87)

-CBU-97 is a CBU-105 with intelligent BLU-108 submunitions that find their target.

Am I right ?

So, what is the CBU-103 ?

No - that's the CBU-103.

All right, thank you.

Si I modify my question :

What is the CBU-105 ? What are the differencies with the other CBU ?

As you stated above, it's the CBU-97 with guidance tail kit.

If I understand :

CBU-87 = "classical" cluster bomb ("a sort of mk-20") ;

CBU-105 = wind corrected CBU-87 ;

CBU-97 = CBU-87 with intelligent guided submunitions (but not wind corrected) ;

CBU-103 = wind corrected version of the CBU-97 ;

Is that it ?

No - you have the WCMD's mixed up:

Here we go:

CBU-87 = "classical" cluster bomb ("a sort of mk-20") ;

CBU-103 = wind corrected CBU-87 ;

CBU-97 = CBU-87 with intelligent guided submunitions (but not wind corrected) ;

CBU-105 = wind corrected version of the CBU-97 ;

In addition, CBU-97 is specifically an Anti-Tank munition and as such distinctly different from CBU-87.

Now I understand better !

Beta 6 should be great (I think we will be able to use those nice CBU...you convinced me ; Mk-20 is out ! CBU 105 looks good ! )

I noticed that before you took out the CBU-87 for Beta-4, the bomb wasn't very effective and it inly had 22 submunitions, instead of the 202 submunitions it actually has. Are you going to fix both of these issues for Beta 6?

Yes, indeed, I noticed the same problem.

I think it will be fixed. (For beta 6 I hope)

Edit : in the change log, we can see :

3. CBU. The HOF and RPM was implemented.

What is the HOF and the RPM ?

What is the HOF and the RPM ?

HOF is Height Of Function. THe altitude at which the CBU canister splits and deploys the bomblets. The higher the HOF the larger the footprint of the CBU, although at a cost of lower bomblet density.

RPM, is the number of revolutions per minute the CBU canister spins up to before splitting and deploying the bomblets, again higher RPM equals larger footprint.

Different combinations of each can be used to produce the same footprint of sub-munitons.

And yes, the effectiveness of the CBU has been fixed.

...and will you implement BLU-108 for CBU-97/105 ?

- a new CBU model with Arg3 (to rotate) with moving/loose covers (skin opens) ?

- 10 BLU-108 with doubled parachute (new 3D model?)

- 40 spining skeets with ability to search targets and destroy vehicles like a missile (pinpoint) ?

Sorry, but will there be 202 or the usual 22 bomblets in the CBU-87? And I presume your previous post means that the CBU-97 will be fully graphically modeled?

I think time will till how many submunitions are modelled.

with regard to the 7 miracle weapon (CBU-97/CBU-105) I think Vipers comment was meant as "now the weapons is working!" not "Look at all the graphical excellence we created".

I just hope that the CBU-87 lives up to its CEM name!
