AJ.eightFive Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Warthog arrives in the mail today, I whip it out of the box and start fiddling with all the buttons and switches, admiring how solidly constructed everything feels. Then I decide to try out my Cougar handle on the Warthog base to see whether I prefer it to my Cougar base with Uber II Nxt gimbals. As I'm tightening the Cougar handle onto the base with the grey ring I hear a crack and discover that I've managed to give my stick a twist-for-rudder feature (there is now about 30 degrees of play in the "yaw" axis). I didn't use a huge amount of force to tighten the stick, only as much as I used to loosen it in the first place so I'm thinking that something plastic inside became brittle in the cold during shipping. Here's hoping TM covers it! :joystick:
Geskes Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 About the same thing happened to a squad buddy of mine who sat down in his chair and accidentally his clothing got stuck behind one of the buttons twisting the stick and breaking the plastic cups inside. He made pictures of the damage inside and sent them to TM. He could send it in for replacement even though he had been honest about what caused it. Feed Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I understand putting the Warthog grip on a Cougar base, but not the other way around ... Why would you want to put the Cougar grip on the Warthog base?

hassata Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 As i understand it, WH base is broken. So use WH stick on Uber Base. This is preferable (imho) anyhow. Then just send in the WH cylinder to be fixed as backup. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Teej Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I understand putting the Warthog grip on a Cougar base, but not the other way around ... Why would you want to put the Cougar grip on the Warthog base? I'm guessing some prefer the lighter touch of the Cougar stick's buttons (S1/S2/S3) "Tank! I need a program for a TM Warthog!" Succellus Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Teej you may have a point i find the Warthog S buttons strange, and the T2 far too close final trigger movement. But its only a process of adaptation i guess. HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. Drover Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I've done the same thing... i've taken it all apart and the ball that holds the stick from twisting.. snapped in half, the only thing to do other than replace it, is to take the ball totally out, and hope that the magnet is still in tact for the prescision handling of the Hotas.... unfortunately mine broke off.. so i had to glue it back into position... I've tried to contact TM, i've sent the pics and receipt.. and no luck in any contact... so i will try again soon, and see if i get a reply.. other than that.. i'm going to try and get the ball made out of aluminum and machined so it's not cheap plastic holding it in place.. if you have any info on getting this fixed.. I'm all ears... Drover

metalnwood Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 You must have been doing some serious browsing on the forum, this must have been 50 pages in lol :) I feel bad for the guy who caught his stick on his pants while trying to sit over it. I hope he sent the pictures of the right broken stick to TM, ouch.
PeterP Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Hope you get it fixed! :music_whistling:03-14-2012 : I've done the same thing... i've taken it all apart and the ball that holds the stick from twisting.. snapped in half, the only thing to do other than replace it, is to take the ball totally out, and hope that the magnet is still in tact for the prescision handling of the Hotas.... unfortunately mine broke off.. so i had to glue it back into position... JellybeanTiger Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 My Cougar stick can't be removed because I glued it on because when I got mine all those years ago,the female connecter inside the base which conects the stick was loose. Then when tightening a screw for the usb cable connector after fixing it,that snapped off as well. LOL. In one night my Cougar was not as she was supposed to be but that's Thrustmaster for ya. Sheep on the outside, mutton inside LOL.

FeistyLemur Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) TM support should replace the part, and even if they refuse to it only costs 25 dollars (which while expensive for a 2 dollar piece of crappy plastic is better than writing off a $250 stick). My suggestion is call them rather than email. They never answered anything I sent by email, but they did sell me the same part when I called them wanting to buy a new one. They refer to the "ball" as the articulation sphere. Edited January 24, 2017 by FeistyLemur
