automag928 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 I'm sure this is probably the wrong forum to put this in but it relates to my DCS:A-10 experience! :) Through another forum I found a TIR5 for sale for a decent price. Just sent the money via paypal and am waiting for it to get here!! I'm hoping Track IR is as good as everyone has said...Now to decide if I keep my 3 monitors via Eyefinity, or go one big one :D
SmokeyTheLung Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 you wont regret it! It can take some time to get used to, but after the leaning curve things start to get interesting System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

effte Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Congratulations on taking the plunge! Welcome to the New World. I'm kind of jealous, actually. I would love to re-experience the sensation of awe when I finally received my first TIR and got it setup. For simulated flying, it is akin to putting on your glasses in the morning if nearsighted. :) ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
S77th-konkussion Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 very nice. You will kick yourself for not buying it sooner- even if it were your second day flying.. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]

Greb Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Bought one just as the A10 Beta's came out..........I could never fly any flight sim without it now. It's as necessary as a good HOTAS system...IMHO.

WynnTTr Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 My philosophy is if you can get it now without serious consequences, get it sooner rather than later. Sure you can save up for 3 months or whatever (lets say 3 months) for the money to buy it outright but that's 3 months you could have been using it and you'd still be earning and saving for it regardless. So pay now, have it tonight and fly and put aside $50 per month to make up for it OR put aside $50 per month, not have it to fly and then after three months see what everyone is talking about. Either way you'll still have it in the end and you're still putting money aside for it. If the end result is the same, would you rather have it sooner than later? Even though I detest it, I've bought a couple of things on credit card like that - it's easily worth a few extra dollars in interest if it means I get to play with my new toy months early in advance.

automag928 Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 w00t!! UPS says be here tomorrow!! I can't wait!!
jerichau Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Just got my TIR 5 today. Wow, just wow. Going from using a hat and wheel on my logitech g940 to look around and zoom, to a TIR 5 is like going from a stone axe to a GAU-8! I was thinking of getting an extra monitor and going 3-monitor eyefinity, but now I think I'll keep my extra fps and just use the trackir on my 27". May even drop the MFCDs off my right 1200x1900 monitor for more immersion ;) Might have to find a 30" 2560x1600 monitor next...
