Rusty_M Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 $60 is a bit expensive IMO. But that was the price and I wanted to play, so I made my choice, and saved a bit. There's not much point debating the price on a forum. The price was set for a reason, whether correctly or not. Unfortunately, haggling is unlikely to work on this scale. The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
Apples Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 But that doesn't make it a good game :P Good game or not they raked in $360 million on launch day and $650 million within five days. They have already passed $1 Billion in sales. Flight Sims just ain't as popular as FPS games. I want sequels (ie new modules) for DCS! The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming

(Micro$haft excepted) If they are successful it means more & better to come. On the other hand- the shooties make zillions and yet... they are all still pretty much the same... :D [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]

PlainSight Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 60 bucks is barely over 43 euros, STEAL for such extensive and detailed product. Too high would be in a 60-70 euro range. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I may have worded it bad. CoD has sold millions, but it's still crap, to me atleast. Apples seemed to insinuate that it wasn't, purely because of the fact that it has sold millions, which doesn't mean anything to me.
Loz Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I'm just amazed that anyone with any knowledge of this sim, or recent PC sim history, would suggest that this is overpriced. Or to suggest that they will improve their profit by selling it cheaper. Sorry I don't see where you are coming from. Along with most of the others here I think this is very reasonably priced. This is not just a game but a full study simulator. Fantastic software. I've spent far far more equipping my PC in the last year to run this sim as best I can. BoneDust Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I paid $59 for games back in the 90's so I don't think $59 is too much given that it is 2011 now. In 1998 I paid $100 Canadian dollars for Falcon 4.0 and I'm still flying it thanks to community groups. Here's the car anology...hahaha...a car doesn't cost the same today it did back in 1990 does it. :) Alienware New Aurora R15 | Windows® 11 Home Premium | 64bit, 13thGen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9 13900KF(24-Core, 68MB| NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 4090, 24GB GDDR6X | 1 X 2TB SSD, 1X 1TB SSD | 64GB, 2x32GB, DDR5, 4800MHz | 1350W PSU, Alienware Cryo-tech (TM) Edition CPU Liquid Cooling power supply | Pimax Crystal VR

Boberro Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 i would pay 1.5 the actuall price easely. And if crap stuff like COD can ask 60 for changes in some pixel you got to be kidding. These (DCS) will will last much more than the more of the same FPS average couple of month you ll get out there. What is crap for X doesn't must mean same for Y and vice-versa. If they sell\earn millions\trillions of USD it means people like it. Period. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... GhostDog Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Wow, some of you folks are filthy rich. :D Anyway, DCS is the only game that I would pay $60 for. Ubi, EA and the rest can eat it. If it ain't on clearance, I could give a rip. I've been burnt by mainstream titles too often to ever pay full retail for a new release. That said $60 is pretty much my upper threshold for a single title. Doesn't matter how good it is, anything above that is asking for trouble with the spousal unit, and no game is worth that (DCS is almost worth it, but not quite).
