German website

Nope, austrian page of the Zentralamt für Meteorologie und Geodäsie (central administrative bureau for meteorology and geodesy).

The simulation was done yesterday and calculates the propagation of a possible particle cloud under the condition of continuous release until yesterday 18:00 CET.

They go on to say that it is possible that some of the cloud might reach tokyo, but that from 20:00 CET the wind will turn towards east again. They say that ATM their calculations hint that it is not possible that an undiluted air mass from Japan could reach Europe .

(the animations below show a prediction ending with 3.18., for iodine 131 (local) and caesium 137 (global))

Again, remember that the concentrations are calculated using a steady release as boundary condition.

EDIT: They started a new calculation today: http://www.zamg.ac.at/aktuell/index.php?seite=1&artikel=ZAMG_2011-03-16GMT09:50

Due to no hard evidence of release quantities, they say that the graphs are only to be taken as a measure of dilution and propagation of air mass, not absolute concentration. A high resolution analysis of ZAMG shows that during the northwind phase of yesterday, Tokyo was not directly hit and there was no precipitation, although radiation levels are slightly elevated. The prognosis for the next few days points towards predominantly western winds with north components close to the ground.

Edit: They revoked the quantitative data because the timeframe of the measurement seems to have been screwed up. Exact measurements are to be expected on Friday.

Not sure if this is true, but listening to bbc news today, the Japanese Emperor said somethign about the quake being 9.7.

I havent been keeping in the loop as I have been busy all day, but has the strength of the quake shot up from 9.0-9.1 all the way to 9.7 ?

yes , and below there's a clip of Hachi movie . it makes me think that the japanese really , really doesn't deserve what's happening to them

No-one deserves an earthquake or a tsunami. It's just reality - they happen.

Any news on the situation?

TV news is quite useless here since it's all the same attention grabbing BS.

They are jsut repeating the same thing again and again :( and making those interviews with experts etc ... there must be something like a blog with more info around ... maybe
