Shaman Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) What kind of weapons do you think B-2s are deploying and what kind of targets are they used against? Do you think they use stand-off missiles exclusively? So we have big AGM-158 and smaller AGM-154 to bet on. Agg Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 What kind of weapons do you think B-2s are deploying and what kind of targets are they used against? Do you think they use stand-off missiles exclusively? So we have big AGM-158 and smaller AGM-154 to bet on.According to Norwegian news papers, four B-2s dropped a total of 64 bombs (16 each), on the first night of the conflict. The targets were airfields, aircraft on the ground and various ground units. So my guess is they're using JDAMS.
jpm1 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 among B-2 targets there was Al watyah airbase , not sure about the weapon used GR4 strike (Khaddafi T-72) @Topol : american carriers (not amphibious) headed all to A-stan . US planes as far as i know take off from Italy . which base exactly , can't tell as seems they use several bases (Sigonella ...) SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I wait with some antecipation footage of the airfields. Just curious to know the state of the C-130's I helped repair. A note of curisosity, the day those planes entered in my shop I joked with my colegues: "you know, some day they will be carpet-bombed just like the russian Ilushins back in 1986" After a couple of years fiction becomes reality (only by luck if not), who would tell heh? .
jpm1 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 allied strike between Benghazi and Aldabyia (sunday) B-2 returning home (Whiteman) after its sunday mission (a 25hours flight) . it dropped 45 bombs RAF VC10 of Brize Norton in support of SEAD GR4 saturday to sunday night Tobrouk dream team SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MoGas Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Where are they B-2 coming from? Homebase in the US or from Europe, anybody knows it?
Insanatrix Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Where are they B-2 coming from? Homebase in the US or from Europe, anybody knows it? I had a either a UFO or a B-2 fly over my house last night. Wouldn't have seen him except that he had running lights on or something, maybe landing at macdill or going up to pensacola?

bumfire Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Where are they B-2 coming from? Homebase in the US or from Europe, anybody knows it? As far as I am aware, B2's only operate from US soil, mainland US and Guam I think it is. Thats whats I am led to believe, however I could be wrong ?

mig29movt Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Unfortunately it's only available in german but have a look at 1:06: Are these GBU-31? These bombs are huge! Or are this even bigger ones? What about the GBU-32, it seems to be based on the MK-83, I once read in the forums that the -83 is only used by the US Navy, am I correct? (I can't imagine this huge thing (GBU-31) on the A-10C, of course the GBU-31 looks big in the sim but I can't imagine it in real life.) Well once again you can see an E/A-18G Growler on the taxiway, it seems to be tested for the 1st time with a real air defence threat. I guess it's Aviano AB because of the mountains in the background. It must be Italy because there's a police car in front which has "carabinieri" written on it's side. Aviano normally hosts F-16 and it's ammo depot is outside the base (check Google Earth) which would explain several 2000 pound on a public road :D I would probably test my cars acceleration instead of watching all those bombs rolling by in front of me! :shocking: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Waiting to build a F/A-18C home-pit... ex - Swiss Air Force Pilatus PC-21 Ground Crew SFM? What about the GBU-32, it seems to be based on the MK-83, I once read in the forums that the -83 is only used by the US Navy, am I correct? The GBU-31 is based on the Mk-84, and the Mk-84 is larger than the Mk-83. And yes, Mk-83 is used by U.S. Navy only. I don't no, if there is a JDAM version of the Mk-83. I think, it's the GBU-31 in the video. kind regards, Fire Hardware: Intel i5 4670K | Zalman NPS9900MAX | GeIL 16GB @1333MHz | Asrock Z97 Pro4 | Sapphire Radeon R9 380X Nitro | Samsung SSDs 840 series 120GB & 250 GB | Samsung HD204UI 2TB | be quiet! Yea thats what usually happens, muliple IFR, I dont think I have ever heard of them landing or taking off elsewhere to do a job, unless an emergency dictated it.
Pilotasso Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) What an irony man :) But it might have survived, it`s not a combat aircraft after all. Do you know where it`s based? Metiga airbase. Heres some pics I caught from old magazines: Here you can see 2 of the aircraft. They are painted in 2 colors, the military aicraft is in dark gray, while the one in the background is civilian painted in white and green (this one I heard has stopped flying months ago because there is no local capability for some repairs and Libya has not requested help). A third cammo scheme is like the one below behind the F-1's (that particular aircraft is still standing in Libya). The remainder aircraft I got at work will be painted like that (I think). I wonder whatever happened to the pilots in the background. Edited March 21, 2011 by Pilotasso .
mvsgas Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) mig29movt, They look like GBU-31 83 are mostly used by US Navy, could be carried by USAF aircraft but I have never seen it The bombs won't go off so easily, they several safety devises, no need to be afraid of them... unless your getting bombs of course. VJS161_Fire GBU-31 is based on the MK-84 and the BLU-109 GBU-32 is Mk-83 GBU-38 should be Mk-82 http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/missiles/jdam/index.htm Edited March 21, 2011 by mvsgas To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.
