BlackRazor Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Hi guys My UTM entry went fine, but for the Lat Long (eg. N4312.282) when i put in the whole thing including ".282" i got CDU INPUT ERROR. only lat long without decimals would be accepted. Any ideas? eedenn Do not input the dot character, only numbers.

Two digits degrees latitude (three for longitude), two digits minutes latitude/longitude and any other digits you enter are inerpreted as minute decimals. No need to include the decimal point. Short and sweet: Enter N4312282. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.

Good observation! However, I think I'll keep entering the NSEW. andyfoot Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Dragon, really enjoyed your Youtube vids, very well done. I have one question though, how do you bring up the mission briefing screen? I didn't know you could do that once you were in a mission. I've searched the manual, but can't find any info on it.

ravenone Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I think the most efficient solution for the wide variety of people flying this Sim, would be to have JTAC include the UTM Zone in the 9-line brief. That way you could look at the existing UTM Zone in your Waypoint, compare it to the 9-Line, and change it if needed. I actually thought that was SOP. Seems like too simple (and as Warriorx says... efficient) a fix if target environment spans multiple zones. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Windows 10 (64) - AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core - 32 GB RAM - RTX 2080 Super
WRFirefox Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 There are only 4 Zones (35T, 36T, 37T, 38T) in the momentary flyable Map. So it is simple to take a look before flight, if you have to go in a new grid zone. Than you know that you have to change it in the CDU. Take a look at this.
andyfoot Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 BlackRazor, thanks for your reply, guess I couldn't find it because I've never tried multiplayer.
Congo_Toey Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Hi All, I am getting stumped a lot of time by the JTAC feeding back either 5 or 7 digit coordinates. I got stumped with DK15805, first read that I should add a zero to the before the second set of digits to make it six digits like this DK158005, but that was a long way off, so I add on at the beginning instead so put DK015805 and that worked, thinking I had solved the riddle. However another time I got CL91493, this time thinking I was smart I put in CL091493, but that was in the sea somewhere, so then I tried CL914093 and that worked. Now I am thinking well there is only 2 possible place to put the zero, so I think well if the first doesnt owrk just enter the other way. However today another on happened and it didnt matter what I did I couldnt work our what to do, as just ot fox me more I got a 7 digit number. CK1000809. Now I tried every combination that I could think of, but no joy. So does anyone have any experience with what to do with a 7 digit number? ED you guys do a great job, but please fix the JTAC coordinate system, I agree the 38T or 37T zone should be in the 9 line as it is in a place where you may cross from one to the other, and also the JTAC should read back even digits always.
effte Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 CK01000809 or CK10000809 should do it, unless you've stumbled upon something entirely new. In fact, it's gotte be CK10000809, as the simulator would as far as we know output CK01000809 as CK100809, leaving you seriously up manure creek without a paddle. 1 ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
Congo_Toey Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 i will try that although i think i already did, and let you know
WildBillKelsoe Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I guess this is just another "user error" thread, but I just don't understand what I could possibly be doing wrong here . I'm trying to fly the Shooting Gallery mission. I take off and contact JTAC, who gives me the 9-line. The coordinates are UTM (two letters and six digits), and in this case, they are GG329668. I'm following WarriorXs UTM guide to the letter, and it all works great, until I find out that the coordinate I entered, is 850 miles away. What am I doing wrong? I restarted the mission a couple of times just to see if that would give me some reasonable coordinates, but I get the same every time. So if the coordinates are OK, is there some switch or setting that I don't remember (I have WarriorXs guide printed out, so I know I'm not skipping anything there) that has to be set before I can get the coordinates to work? Check this thread AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. CADelta Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 First of all great Thread, some very useful information here. Cheers all. Dragon, really enjoyed your Youtube vids, very well done. I have one question though, how do you bring up the mission briefing screen? I didn't know you could do that once you were in a mission. I've searched the manual, but can't find any info on it. Mate you can always bring up the Mission Briefing Screen by pressing LALT+B and that is both in Singleplayer and Multiplayer. This feature was implemented not to long ago and it's a lovely useful feature if you ask me  /Krycek = CAD = Krycek [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I try to save a life a day. Usually it's my own!
Nu-NRG Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Tho I can input the coordinates just like WarriorX's howto says, I have a question related to that. I input coordinates prosecute my attack, kill the target and contact JTAC again. In the process, making SPI and CDU comes up with markpoint Z. After that the CDU no longer accepts LL input (since markpoint Z is reserved). What i then do is switch to steerpoint page move the steerpoint and switch back to WP page. How you guys do it? Here is what I do to quickly get the CDU to recover from an asterisk error, or off a Z mark point. Just press number 1 for example on the UFC or CDU, then press the top left LSK on the CDU. This will bring up waypoint 1 data, and from there, you can create a new waypoint. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Is that you John Wayne?.......Is this me?"
