CONFIRMED: Next aircraft will be a fixed wing US FIGHTER!

If US fighter is 100% sure to be the next module, then it is f*** GREAT because we'll be able to make multiplayer head to head like we did in the old FC2 !!

And it won't be a F15 because it's already the cover of FC2:

Would be confusing to have two games with the same cover ! (isn't it?)

it will be limited to same aircraft on both sides until a new fighter is selected for a following module.

No more "huh my Su27 is not as powerfull as the F15 :(:("

Same hardware = pilot skills make the difference

My guess:

70% likely it's F-16 (could be C or A MLU)

20% likely it's F-15C (I sure hope not)

5% likely it's F-18 (E is too heavily classified I think... if it IS an F-18, it's probably a C and developed for another country, not the USN)

5% likely it's F-15E.

F/A-18E is quite well modeled on the VRS version for FSX there is enough information out there to make it on the same level as DCS A-10C probably best to wait for the SDK for DCS and maybe some devs might make a payware one.

The F-15E has a rather long and detailed description in the DCSW encyclopedia. Only other aircraft with a description are previously flyable aircraft. ED hasn't bothered to model any other aircraft for AI before. Obviously it's an F-15E, much to my Superbug's disappointment. :(

Now, what's so bad about a Hornet or Superhornet? I seriously doubt any properly modeled modern aircraft would be disagreeable in a DCS sim.

And carrier ops would be quite interesting. I just hope they move to another theatre eventually, or perhaps widen the current theatre (imagine, the entire black sea, for example).

The absence of Naval doesn't mean it won't be Naval. According to your theory, it shouldn't be in any branch of the military. If it was Air Force, shouldn't they be announcing it as a US Air Force fighter if what you're saying is true?

I don't understand all the musings regarding the Strike Eagle. Despite the incomparable awesomeness of MP, ED must and will continue to cater to single-player billy-no-mates such as myself. So an AI WSO or Pilot depending on which seat you've jumped to? Surely not, given the lackluster wingman AI, and ED's commitment to high fidelity. My money is on the F/A-18C (possibly with a naval-ops expansion?).

My problem with the 'entire Black Sea' is that most of it would be, well, the 'entire Black Sea'. Lots of empty space.

Something with more urban / populated locales would be nice, but given how frame-crushing the tiny hamlets in Georgia are...
