kingneptune117 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 I really hope its a viper. Sure it has been done before, but not to DCS standards. I LOVE the Viper. I remember my first time seeing it at an airshow. I was standing in line for a snow cone at the Chicago air and water show, and as I begin to tell the person my order I heard the loudest noise I have ever heard. It literally rattled my teeth. I looked up with amazement to see the Viper West Demonstration Team F-16C VERY low to the ground (looked like tree top level) with full afterburner on. It was one of the most inspiring moments for me. I wanted to join the Air Force before seeing this, but after seeing this I knew it was where I belonged. I just hope I am able to pass the medical exams to get in. They are pretty strict with their medical qualifications it seems like. ronht Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 One of the things that has made the DCS series so successful, in my opinion, beyond it's realism,, is the "in your face" action provided by the A-10 and Black Shark platforms in the DCS environment. That's one of the reasons I believe a Harrier would fit so well in this sim. Personally, I don't get that much excitement out of locking up a blip on a radar screen and launching a weapon beyond visual range which is how most of today's modern fighters are employed and quite honestly, thats one reason Falcon and LockOn don't get that much play time on my computer any more. To each his own, one things for sure, whatever they do based on what they've given us in Black Shark and A-10, they can count on my to buy it.

Who knows, it might spawn another guessing game/wishlist thread. :music_whistling: Maybe not, because the F-15E in-game's texture is way wrong. Panels are missing, mislabeled, and totally out of place on it :) To the left of the base of the speedbrake should be a very large rectangular panel that houses the Band 3 forward amplifier... instead there's like seven funny-shaped panels in-game :D
Agg Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Well, if its a US fighter, wouldnt that eliminate the Mudhen? Seeing as its not a fighter, its a ground attacker with self defense capabilities, sort of like the Tornado.
dotChuckles Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 To be honest whatever we get... if it can carry the AGM-88, I'll be happy. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

RogueRunner Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 F16 will be cool! Nice multirole capability  F15C not so much! Diversity adding to longevity and playability is the key here. With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
nomdeplume Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Well, if its a US fighter, wouldnt that eliminate the Mudhen? Seeing as its not a fighter, its a ground attacker with self defense capabilities, sort of like the Tornado. Most sources (e.g. Wikipedia, aerospaceweb.org, AusAirPower, FAS, the Air Combat Command) refer to it as a dual-role fighter, or a fighter-bomber. I don't think it can be entirely eliminated from the discussion based on that kind of technicality, unless we can be confident that Matt's comment in that interview was a very carefully thought-out statement that took into account the nuances of all possible interpretations.

Butcher59 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 At least they need a licence to produce the next plane or whatsoever and i doubt they will get the one for the f-16. G00dnight Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Oh god not another american plane :( aint the devs got any better ideas. there are loads of interesting aircraft out there that are not american and have not been simmed before. for example : Saab viggen or draken or grippen, dassault mirage or super etendard or rafale, jaguar, eurofighter. ok enough said rant over.:pilotfly: AMD A8-5600K @ 4GHz, Radeon 7970 6Gig, 16 Gig Ram, Win 10 , 250 gig SSD, 40" Screen + 22 inch below, Track Ir, TMWH, Saitek combat pedals & a loose nut behind the stick
Steel Jaw Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Sorry, my friends, even as a Canadian, I have to admit that the Americans still make the best tactical jets in the world. Bvoiash Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Well VRS seems to have done quite a good job of it and are making an even more detailed one I don't think that they'll do the AESA version but the earlier blocks. The Pro version will be the one to look out for as that will have even more features from what I understand the limitation is the TGP for FSX maybe one day they'll find a way to model it also their plans include a DC for FSX as well as that another dev is making a Naval addon using Tacpac SDK for Ship combat. Theres alot of potential there. VRS certainly hasn't done a bad job from what I've read. And I certainly am enjoying flying the Superbug in FSX at the moment. Hopefully when TacPack is released it would at least be able to fill the gap for me until the next DCS is released. As currently flying the Superbug without combat is getting stale for me. DCS A-10C is a good sim IMHO and ED keeps making it better but I prefer something that is faster, more maneuverable and multi-role. For it to be able to do carrier landing is a nice addition though :). Edited March 23, 2011 by Bvoiash
Irregular programming Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Sorry, my friends, even as a Canadian, I have to admit that the Americans still make the best tactical jets in the world. Which, even if true, doesn't really mean anything in regards to which airplane to model next now would it. :music_whistling:
xhaos Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 But we will know if they make public their next project.... I would really like to know how ED feels about their experience with "public beta" A10. Was it a positive, negative or neutral experience for them?
Eight Ball Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I really hope after this modules ED will focus on releasing several russian planes at once. Really they said they're aiming at pure realism but they will force us to do F16 vs F16 (or whatever the next module is)...how realistic is this ? So I really hope they will focus on planes and leave all the rest on the side (map, ground crews,...) Once we get 2 proper "forces", they'll focus on new theathers and all extra features. I really think the sooner we'll have 2 side to play with, the happier the community will be. Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
Eight Ball Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I would really like to know how ED feels about their experience with "public beta" A10. Was it a positive, negative or neutral experience for them? VE Reader: What sort of value has Eagle Dynamics seen from running a pre-purchase open beta? The primary purpose of the pre-purchase was to both allow customers the option to do so, but also allow them an avenue to have access to beta versions of the game. This has given us the great benefit of identifying hardware compatibility issues early. Given that we are not a large company with a QA lab, this has been a great benefit. http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/interviews/59338/Interview-With-DCS-A-10C-Warthog-Producer-Matt-Wagner/p3/c1/ Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
