Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I'm thinking of going to a 30" monitor and so that means the native resolution is 2560 x 1600. I currently have a gtx 285 and I'm sure that will be a bottleneck to run at this resolution. I am eyeing the GTX 580. Will GTX 580 be able to handle 2560 x 1600 resolution in A10C? What else do I need to consider going to 30" from a 24" monitor? Thanks.
Kuky Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 well you will be needing little more physical space for 30" but other than that I am sure GTX580 will be enough to run that resolution PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Buzpilot Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) If you use TrackIr, you will need GTX580. Edit; using Dell 30" and GTX580 now :) ,and a i7 950 or better is recommended. ( a oc 930 would probably work fine too) Edited March 29, 2011 by Buzpilot i5 4670 - Sabertooth Z87- GTX Titan - Dell U3011 30" - 2x8GB RAM 1800 - Samsung 840 EVO 512GB SSD - Warthog HOTAS - CH Pro pedals - TrackIR5 - Win7 64bit EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
MTFDarkEagle Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 +1 for the 580. Plenty of memory and speed for the job :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Thanks guys. I ordered my 580gtx along with a dell 30"ips monitor today. Im broke now. :(
Slammin Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 At least you will be in the same heaven as I am. You will absolutely love the combo! And really, I totally expected to have to go Sli after getting my U3011 but was pleasantly suprised with the performance of this card at 2560x1600. Definitely explains the $$ you have to pay for it, and it was worth it too! I'd done 7800GTX Sli, 8800GTS, and then decided to wait for a card that would be able to stand alone for awhile. This 580GTX is the one. Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 I have a 285 GTX actually and going to 580 GTX. Slammin, you have me psyched about my new monitor and gpu :) I was wondering about whether I would need SLI but thanks for letting me know! That's great news as it would have been another 500 bucks for SLI. I can't wait for my U3011!
Rainmaker Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Good luck to you on that new card... I have a 5870 and 2 more 23" monitors on the way as we speak. Gonna give ATI's Eyefinity a go!
Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) The U3011 arrived today. What an amazing monitor! My 285 GTX actually runs FC2 and both DCS modules pretty decently at 2560x1600. My 580 gtx arrives tommorrow so I can't wait to try it. Everything isn't perfect though, the monitor came with one stuck pixel. It is stuck on green when yello and black when red. Contemplating whether it's worth exchanging as I can't even notice it during gameplay. Now, back to doing some cannon runs on my new monitor! :) Edited April 14, 2011 by <((((><
