It appears we have stumbled upon another problem which may or may not be caused by the tweak. It's not something I can explain so just take a look at the screen shots I took at different zoom levels.

so will the next patch fix it so we don't have to edit the files to fix this blurry texture problem? And what if you don't want to run High scenes? (Im having enough perf probs as it is with this patch). Do those user discovered tweaks work for medium visibility settings, will it return the clarity to 1.06 levels?

Hopefully setting the new value won't blur the textures again. I will give it a try later but I trust you've already tested and verified it working.

In your Config/terrain folder you want to edit the line 'noise1back' to the value Mustang said. You would edit the file that corresponds to your current view distance setting. So if you run medium view distance you would edit Medium.lua.

I hope so, I usually run medium view distance so all you would have to do is edit Medium.lua instead of High.lua. The textures were very sharp at 50k but it brought about the problem in my last post. I haven't tried the suggested 25k setting yet though.

Setting it down to 25000.0 still has the same problem as before and it also brings back the blurry textures.

The best thing we can do for now is setting noise1back = 50000.0 like Mustang said. I can live with the other problem it causes until we see a fix.

In that same file ...Config/Terrain/High.lua (if you run Medium Vis settings then change file Medium.lua) there is a section called DistanceBlend or something.. in there, there are values for field near distance and field far distance (I'm at work now so I can't remember the real wording)... I remember by default near distance is set to 10000 and far 15000 I think... increase those (try doubling) and see if that helps

here it is, try these values

.../Config/Terrain/High.lua (or Medium.lua if using Medium visibility settings)

distanceBlend =

{

townNearDistance = 10000;

townFarDistance = 25000;

fieldNearDistance = 15000; -- 10000

fieldFarDistance = 25000; -- 13000

waterNearDistance = 6000;

waterFarDistance = 12000;

townLightNearDistance = 9000;

townLightFarDistance = 10000;

subforest = {8000, 13000};

beach = {8000, 13000};

road = {8000, 13000};

}

Thanks for the input Kuky. I will give the values you posted a test in around an hours time.

I had this same problm with an ATI card. Turns out my Mip Map settings were set to "performance". Once I changed them to "Quality" then the textures were clear and crisp.
