bloomstomb Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 TY. I cant seem to flip on EAC (near throttle) unless TAD is switched on and loaded up. I was wondering why this is so.
jwflowersii Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I think it's because you have to load NAV data from the data cartridge once the INS aligment is done for EAC to function properly.
MTFDarkEagle Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Please conduct a search first... EAC can only be turned on after INS is FULLY alligned (T = 4.0 0.8 & INS NAV READY is flashing on CDU allignment page) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
bloomstomb Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Sorry I made a mistake. What I meant is the EAC wont come on till TGP is turned on and loaded up.
MTFDarkEagle Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 EAC is independant of the TGP. EAC is dependant on the EGI system, once that's fully alligned, with NAV selected and DTS uploaded (haven't tried without uploading it to be honest), the EAC should switch on no problem. Could you otherwise upload a trackfile demonstrating your problem? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

MTFDarkEagle Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Non. just wait the full 4 minutes. Be glad it's not the F-16 10 minutes ;) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

Bullitt Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 The EAC system was one part of the LASTE update to the A-10A that provides an autopilot capability. EAC uses sensor data from the Embedded GPS INS (EGI) navigation system, the Central Air Data Computer (CADC) and the SAS, and then provides input into elevator and yaw as part of the SAS. Basically what this means is for the EAC to properly function you have to wait for the EGI to be aligned (T = 4.0 0.8 on the CDU), have the SAS switches engaged, and the CADC has to be functioning. There is no correlation between the EAC and either the TAD or the TGP.

Try it: start the game, do your thing, come out, and the trackfile should be there. Change it's name and bob's your uncle :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
bloomstomb Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 OK this is where Im getting a little confused. I clicked on NAV on cdu , tad map came up when I did that. EGI is also lit and has been for about 7 minutes in front of my flight stick(I turned on egi on the right hand panel) and Ive been waiting for 10 minutes now and still cant switch on EAC. Does anyone see the problem here?
159th_Viper Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Does anyone see the problem here? You're doing something wrong. Exactly what we cannot tell you without a track. Run a mission doing a cold-start and when you encounter the problem, ie EGI aligned etc etc, then hit the Esc key to quit the mission. You will be prompted to save a track (Save Track button). Save, exit and upload the track to the forum so we can have a look. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! Does anyone see the problem here? Did you wait for a full alignment of the EGI or did you press nav as soon as it said 'ready' for the first time? You know, this would really be a lot easier with a trackfile to watch. :smilewink: Edit: sniped by v to the i to the  :D Edited May 5, 2011 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Does anyone see the problem here? SAS engaged? Radar alt in norm? Try downloading one of the startup checklists (I recommend paulrkiii's or WarriorX's) and following them. If you still can't get EAC engaged, then there's some kind of bug. DCS Wiki! :book:
bloomstomb Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Hey thank you it works now. I was not waiting till it was fully uploaded (4.0.0.8 ) and just clicking on nav as soon as I could. The result was it took alot longer than 4 minutes if I did that. You have to wait till its 4.0.0.8.
Sinky Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I believe you might be forgetting to set the EGI into FPLAN mode after you align, once you have done that you proceed to select NAV. Helios Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Just a tip for anyone who might not have thought about it; in single-player mode you can speed up time while waiting for INS alignment. Just hit CTRL+Z a few times, watch CDU, and when it hits T=4.0 press SHIFT+Z - saves a few minutes. Not 100% realism, but hey - it gives you a few more minutes in the air ;-) ASUS Maximus IV Extreme B3 | Intel i7-2600K | 16GB DDR3 1600MHz | GeForce GTX 580 1536MB | Corsair SSD 128GB | TrackIR4 Pro | Saitek X52 Pro | CH Pro Pedals | Win7 x64
