MagnumHB Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I had no idea there were random failures by default. Quite like it myself - opportunity to use emergency procedures drills and such. See, you say that, but the reality for most people is that unless you are super-masochistic, random failures simply are not fun. Even more so in situations like coolts described. Besides, this is a combat sim which should give you plenty of opportunities to practice emergency procedures. Just fly a few high-threat missions, and you're bound to encounter some, and ones where an MFCD failure will be the least of your worries at that.
coolts Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) I had no idea there were random failures by default. Quite like it myself - opportunity to use emergency procedures drills and such. Would be nice if the event log at the end of the game stated you'd had failure. I know most of the time if something doesn't work my squad mates start griping 'bug!' Good work ED, looking forward to patch.:joystick: Not if you had planned a flight for days, only had 2-3 hours to fly, had to organise others on server/teamspeak, had to co-ordintate flight, plan ingress, recon area, identify & prioritise targets, configure weapon parameters, plan attack, pr........"my MCFD is broken, returning to base for a new plane, ah it's 9 o'clock, i haven't got time. See you next week guys, I'm gutted". coolts Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Us 'beta boys' have had long hard winter! Show some mercy! It's springtime and I want my toys to work! Kankkis Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Nate can you give us some estimate to patch, i know soon but...
hog_driver111th Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 It's not the pilots jet, it's our jet (CC's that is). The USAF might have owned my F-16, but as the crew chief it was mine. Sure, the pilot has his name up higher and "borrowed" it, but he always had to sign it out, and sign it back in to me. I took care of her, and if he did anything wrong with her, I took it out on him. As for in the sim though, sure, add in a CC for us to pummel now and then. S77th-konkussion Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I get the random failures periodically- I can't say they are ruining my experience on the whole.. I have felt both frustration and "oh well- it happens" which tells me they are set about right.. Frustration usually represents a body of work- like topping off a bad night of flying.. xXstubbifiedXx Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I didn't really have many issues other than two of the three campaigns being completely hosed. I was hoping there would have been fixes done to those that would allow me to play through them (as I don't really play it online). I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope they'll work after the patch. Other than that, being an artist, I could only complain about graphical features. I'd like better looking explosions and some additional post effects (like screen shake, motion blur and white-out from explosions, rain FX on the canopy, et cetera). Things I can most definitely live without, but would be nice to have.
