hog_driver111th Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 So, I was flying with a couple guys in my squad, and someone else that flies with us got shot down... no big deal, but when his plane hit the ground there was a dark cloud that filled the sky. I didn't get a picture of the explosion, but I do have a couple from the aftermath. This is northeast of Senaki. Any ideas what it could have been from? Everyone else in the server could see the aftermath too. Boberro Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) It's a bug. I've seen on 104th server so huge craters that they could have been made by small atomic bomb or meteor. Edited May 12, 2011 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
SmokeyTheLung Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Using a spawn explosion, or explode unit trigger one can create a giant fireball and equally large crater. Check the trigger logic in that mission, that could be the cause System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
hog_driver111th Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 you mean so if someone crashes in that area it sets off the explosion like that? I'm pretty sure one of us has been shot down in that area of the mission before and didn't see anything like that. Advicepuppy Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Well, there's a good way to discourage shooting your planes down.
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 AFAIK you can set triggered explosions to be this size (or Bigger I think). But I think the OP is just a glitch in MP. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Nate Ugh, I thoguht the limit was 10000? That said.... I never went into the .miz file to see if I could make it bigger. We had this explosion effect occur one time in a big multiplayer flight. Everyone spawned right near each other on the ramp, and when someone warped.... boom... boom! BOOM!! The supercritical mass of A-10s went into a runaway reaction. Something like four peoples' aircraft chain-exploded and this giant impact scar was all that was left of them  I had already left the airbase luckily, but after landing, I accidentally run into the edge of the crater. My aircraft starting doing cartwheels above and below ground, spinning wildly, until I finally emerged from the earth near a hanger and exploded. A-10 needs more of these kinds of bugs :D Edited May 12, 2011 by Speed Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Nate--IRL-- Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 It should be settable in the ME, add as many 0's as you like. I got it included so I could level a whole city at mission start, but it never worked for other technical reasons. If you want to level a city, it's a simple matter of dropping a single CBU-97! In BS, it was definately limited to just 10000 though. I'll check right now for A-10. Maybe you're speaking of .8? HAHAHA YES YOU'RE RIGHT! Once->Time More (1) -> Explosion in Zone, (zone1, 1e9) :) Edited May 12, 2011 by Speed Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. hog_driver111th Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Interesting. Thanks for the info guys. We'll check the mission and see if something like that is included. We've flown this mission close to 100 times and never had it happen... maybe his plane hit a power plant or a terrorist house. lol A-10C - FC3 - CA - L-39 - UH1 - P-51 - Hawk - BS2 - F-86 - Gazelle - F-5E - AV8B - F/A-18C i5-4590 - GTX 1060 - Oculus CV1 - TM:Warthog [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic9979_1.gif[/sIGPIC]
