159th_Viper Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 At the risk of quoting myself; ......At the end of the day it's the intent to gather all the admins together and provide a range of servers where all possible scenarios are catered for by all the servers, without the scenario of having two servers running with similar goals/prerequisites/restrictions/mandates etc etc. By doing so you are specifically catering for the needs of the Community members first and foremost: If I feel like goofing around, buzzing the Tower, I know that I can attend Server #A. If I want it as 'real as it gets', server #X. If it's free-flight I'm after, server #D and so on and so on and in furtherance thereto, could we kindly have proposals firstly for a broad 'framework' of scenarios that could probably be catered for collectively in the MP Servers. To kick it off....... 1. Free-Flight (Akin to sight-seeing missions for purposes of theatre introduction etc etc) 2. ....... 3. ....... Intent behind the discussion and request for proposals is that we can identify a variety of scenarios which could then possibly form the basis of server and mission allocation amongst the available servers in the DCS Multiplayer environment. Heli Shed Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Weapon engagement - 3 'ED standard maps' - Easy (ground targets no threat), Medium (ground targets, turret / AAA Threat) and Hard (AAA/SAM variants). The purpose behind the 'standard maps' is so that new players can choose the appropriate threat level in accordance with the speed of their systems of work inside the cockpit for employing the various Weapon Systems. 104th_Crunch Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Strictly DCS, or FC2 as well? Here we have the first issue I guess. The division fo the 2 until either a compatibility patch is released for FC2, or DCS:Fighter is made. Thanks Viper and ED for looking at multiplay. I am sure eventually things will only improve from here.
159th_Viper Posted June 9, 2011 Author Posted June 9, 2011 Strictly DCS, or FC2 as well? At present we are attempting to address the problem of DCS MP, ie to get the servers currently provided to be open and easily accessible to the public, whilst at the same time ensuring that all servers work together to provide missions/scenario's that complement rather than compete. The above was spurred on by the 'observations/complaints' received from especially newcomers/those not affiliated with online Squads, to the community and which obviously reflects negatively on an already small community. Strictly DCS? No, not necessarily - I am not aware of the same problem applying to FC2 atm. That said, no reason why the principles agreed to cannot be applied equally to all products should the need arise. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Cali Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 In FC2 you have a ton of open servers and very few closed ones. You also have more people flying FC2 then A-10C. Throw people in that want to ruin the game for others leads to locked servers. Once A-10C (hopefully) is patched to FC2 and BS, some of that might go away. I don't know if DCS-BS was like this when it first came out, I didn't get it til many, many months later. FC2 doesn't have an issue with this, it's strictly DCS A-10C right now. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
MadTommy Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) At T&T we seem to like and run missions that are non time constrained. I'm struggling somewhat to think of a concise tile for the missions we tend to run, so i'll describe them and please suggest how to title them! As i'm the mission maker for us what we tend to run is as follows: Non time constrained CAS scenarios where events & tasks are triggered by clients being in an area & the previous task being accomplished. It does not matter if you spend 30 minutes on the taxiway or spend an hour completing the previous task. We also like to utilise as many features as possible; tankers, awacs, afac, jtac etc. So if you want to practice tanker refueling or jtac utilisation you can stop doing the present task as go off and do these. It tends to be a whole mixture of scripted taskings, freeflight & practice all rolled into one scenario. Missions are also always 'random' meaning the fluff, threats & tasks are always generated via triggers so the same mission has a number of version in one mission file. (normally 16 possible scenarios) I try and make them fun for all skill levels.. not complete beginners but something for everyone. This is the kind of mission we will normally be running. How to name it so the public understand.. god knowns! Suggestions very welcome! Grimes Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 "Join in progress" comes to mind. Its not entirely dependent on meeting timing windows that define success or failure. Rather it depends on clients showing up and fighting whenever, however they want to. Additionally the missions feature enough messages to inform new players what a current in progress task might be. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Cibit Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) Specific Training missions that cover a discreet aspect of the multitude of systems that eventually need to be mastered Cold start CDU Radios ILS/TACAN/HARS Threat Identification and countermeasure use Weapon delivery systems employment best use of ordnance AAR/formation flying Also can ED instal a DCS dedicated TS on the master server. So even if folk are reticent about joining a clan/vfw teamspeak the ED TS would be open to all and a meeting place for people without an affiliation and a place to organize spontaneous MP funzor Edited June 9, 2011 by Cibit i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Schnarre Aggro Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 (edited) after reading all the posts i think I come up with a "new" idea (basically its not new its a combination of tygers and grimes ideas with some "spiced"-AGGROthoughts) 1. FREE FLIGHT (like viper said) 2. JIP ENGAGEMENT (mission like Mad Thommy just described ... with no need to be there at start) 2.1 JIP ENGAGEMENT EASY (like Tyger said) 2.2 JIP ENGAGEMENT MEDIUM (like Tyger said) 2.3 JIP ENGAGEMENT HARD (like Tyger said) 3. TACTICAL ENGAMENT 3.1 TACTICAL ENGAGEMENT EASY 3.2 TACTICAL ENGAGEMENT MEDIUM 3.3 TACTICAL ENGAGEMENT HARD With "TACTICAL ENGAGEMENT" i mean: missions which are designed to be started together and flown together from the start. For example: u have a task wich is triggered at a specific time and you have to be there and watch an "object"(think of a single UAZ , which leads u to the actual target) for a certain time -> come late and dont find the targets anymore(cause they moved into a direction which is not announced) or: u have a specific time window in which u are able to fly through the SAMcurtain or: Missions which are built up on teamwork - for example 1 tgp for a flight of4 for but all have as LGB12s....or u have two (or more) targets which are to be destroyed shortly after another or the enemy starts his defencesystem(sams etc)..... summa summarum i mean missions which cannot be made if u come late or u do not obey the briefing and go for lonewolfstuff, thats what i understand if anyone talks "tactical" ;-) I hope anyone gets my point :-) got to get back to work ...
