ggerman Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Just some random shots from a few different flights. I really liked the mood that the weather created - nice early morning mist hanging along the coast... I threw in some AAR action as well. Just my own little tribute to the guys at ED for creating this masterpiece! Enjoy! 3
2IAE-CrashBG Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Those are brilliant! Keep them coming. [sIGPIC]http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/46crash/crahshig.png[/sIGPIC] Bulgarian DCS Community

KillarZ Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 These pics really make me wish for dcs f-18 or f-16 or any multirole fighter for that matter, would be amazing. Nice ones

JEFX Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Fantastic shots! You have a great photographer's eye. Makes me realize that one of the best new aspect of this sim (compared to older DCS titles) is the realism of light and shadows. And you used both brillantly in those shots. Sure, if I didnt already own DCS A-10C, after those shots, I would die to get it! thanks Jean-Francois [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D
Mustang Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Very nice screen captures ggerman, so good infact that i've linked this thread over at Rage3d forums  http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?p=1336619373#post1336619373
ggerman Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I'm glad you all like the shots! My computer setup is pretty normal: i7 920 OC @ 4.0 nVidia 460 GTX 2GB 24 GB RAM Windows 7 64-bit. I use a 42" Samsung 1080p LED HDTV as a monitor with TrackIR 5 and the TM Warthog HOTAS. DCS: A-10C runs smooth as silk on my machine and always has since the beta version! I don't really keep track of FPS, however I never have any stutters, lag or any other performance issues. @marc15yo: No special settings for the sim... I'm running the 64-bit version with most of the settings at either medium or high. I'm also using the modified HDR fx that's floating around the forum here. I use the HARD setting with that. The only post-process work I did on them was a bit of sharpening and to crop/resize them. It's really all about setting up the weather and time of day to get the right atmosphere for these kinds of shots. I don't remember the exact weather settings, however I set the mission time to 06:00 and the season to autumn. When I get a chance, I'll go back and look at the mission weather settings to see what they were. It's really all about experimentation and then adjusting the camera angles to get the best shot. @JEFX: Thanks for the compliment! It's funny that you say I have a photographer's eye because part of my career (in the civillian world) is as an aviation photographer. I'm the creative head of an advertising agency that does a lot of work for EADS/Airbus, Lockheed-Martin, General Dynamics and most of the other large aerospace companies, so I do A LOT of air-to-air photography! :-) Edited June 20, 2011 by ggerman

ggerman Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 24 Gb of RAM ? Sure... why not? RAM is pretty cheap these days!

Amazing what they can do now, what sort of MoBo can take that amount ? Sorry I don't keep with stuff as much as I used to Remember the 346 Fire Fighters, Medics & Police who died on 9-11....... Amazing what they can do now, what sort of MoBo can take that amount ? Sorry I don't keep with stuff as much as I used to I have a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5... 24GB is the maximum RAM this particular board can handle :) My video card is an EVGA GeForce GTX 460 2GB. My RAM is Patriot Viper Xtreme DDR3 1600 6x4GB. I should also mention that this particular computer is totally dedicated to flightsimming ONLY! There's nothing installed beyond my simming software (DCS, LockOn FC, and FSX) That keeps all the garbage software off the system and allows it to run very lean. Very few processes and resources running in the background and no other software programs running. It also prevents viruses and software conflicts. I have an exact duplicate of this system that I do everything else on (i.e. Photo/video editing, web browsing, software downloading etc..) and a third system that acts as my home server.
