BoneSaw Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 So I get this beast started, I get the flight plan uploaded and everything is working fine. I take off and all the sudden the pitch ladder on my HUD starts acting wonky. Says I'm in a banked turn when I am not. Says I am climbing when I am not. TAD has the flight plan on it Waypoints and whatnot but I get no steering cues on the HUD. Also, I get no flight path marker on the HUD, which is frustrating cause I use that all the time LOL. Really strange I think. There must be a switch somewhere I am not throwing. Any ideas? Oh and Hi! My first post and all!
BoneSaw Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76062 Thanks! I thought it might have somthing to do with the INS aligment. Also that EAC switch under the throttle never sets for me. I assume that's cause I am hitting it before the INS aligns? Also after turning on the INS system it's just a waiting game for the alignment to happen right?
Iceman2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 yes, that's correct - takes a few mins but then you have time to check everything's ok elsewhere, or read a book.. anything really :) 1
Baggy MacDouche Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I've sped up my startup time by initiating the INS alignment before engine start. Basically, as soon as the APU is started I turn on the APU gen, L/R AC gens, as well as the EGI and CDU power. This starts the INS alignment right away. I wait until after the engines are running and the APU is turned off to turn on the CICU and IFFCC and start the bit test. I've seen procedures wrt the EGI/CDU power before and after engine start so I don't know which is correct or realistic. I've never had any problems doing it the way I described and it shaves off a ton of time on ramp startups without sacrificing INS alignment. 1 Corsair Graphite 780T / ASUS Maximus VIII Hero / i7-6700K@4.5GHz / Corsair H110i / 32GB DDR4 PC-2666 / ASUS 1080 Strix / EVGA 850 Pro / Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD / Win10x64 / Samsung UN48JU7500 4k / Logitech G910/933 KB/Headphones / Razer Naga Epic Mouse / MFG Crosswinds / TM HOTAS Warthog / HTC Vive

Iceman2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I don't see any reason why you couldn't start CDU first, it has power and you get finished earlier - if you ask me by all means
Nu-NRG Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Start up EGI - (do everything else while it's aligning) - When it hits 4.0.0.8 (INS ready flashes) press - Nav (RLSK3) on CDU align page - select EGI on NMSP - flick two switches on EAC panel to on ... you are now ready to go-go :D Aviate - Navigate - Communicate
andysim Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 you can always ask for ground power =). Just dont forget to ask for it to be removed before you move, else you will be having quiet words with your chief!
Cibit Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Before the last patch you needed to wait for electrical power from the left generator. Now u can use apu generator to start systems. You want to save more time do an in-flight align and taxi while your starting second engine. Ground power is now only necessary for repair or going to chill as it keeps systems online when powering down the engines :) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

Bolt-1 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Listed in notes for 1.1.0.8 Patch - HARS navigation is defaulting to active at ramp start. With the HARS mode active, you will not get any FPM/VVI in the HUD, and you will not be able to arm the EAC. If you switch from HARS mode to EGI mode after complete INS Alignment, then the FPM/VVI returns, and you can arm the EAC. I think this might be the prob ??
