Oceansize Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I hate that if I pull into a hangar, there is no way to get back out. I would love a hotkey like in FSX that allows ground crew to push your aircraft backwards. Seems easy enough, but what do I know about programming. DCS Millenium Falcon, please. She's got the mother of all pits! P.S. My av should give you an idea of how long I've been simming.
98abaile Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Aren't most aircraft "pushed back" into the hanger?
Rainmaker Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Aren't most aircraft "pushed back" into the hanger? That would be a yes. I don't believe I have ever seen an aircraft pull into a hanger. What's called a flow-through yes, plenty of times. Taxiing towards a concrete wall presents all kinds of safety issues in the case of brake failure or things like that. So however it may be fun, it's highly unrealistic in terms of real world stuff.
=Panther= Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 (R/L) The aircraft doesn't nose into a HAS, the pavement area in front of a HAS allows for the aircraft to turn around. After shutting down the ground crew would push the aircraft back into the HAS...(grumble hated pushing the jets back in the HAS in MOPP gear). Frostiken Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Looking at Vaziani - how the hell do they maneuver aircraft? The taxiways between PASes are barely wide enough for the landing gear! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Oceansize Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 Fine, let me rephrase: I want to be able to 'push-back' INTO a hangar! DCS Millenium Falcon, please. She's got the mother of all pits! P.S. My av should give you an idea of how long I've been simming.
Oceansize Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 "So however it may be fun, it's highly unrealistic in terms of real world stuff." Fair enough, but if we're insisting on 100% realism, shouldn't we be able to put the plane back into the hangar, ready to pull out again, through some mechanism other than the 'magic' of quitting and restarting a mission? Fair enough, but if we're insisting on 100% realism, shouldn't we be able to put the plane back into the hangar, ready to pull out again, through some mechanism other than the 'magic' of quitting and restarting a mission? I understand what you are asking. My main question would be why? If you are in the same mission, what would your intentions be of shutting the plane down to put it back in the HAZ just to start up and taxi back out again?

Eddie Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Pilots don't generally see their jets being pushed back into the HAS, as Panther said above, they turn the jet around on the ramp in front of the HAS which is normally just about large enough for the aircraft to taxi in and turn 180 degrees and have space for the necessary GSE. Once they've then shut down the jet they'll bugger off and do whatever pilots do (look at themselves in mirrors, wear womens clothing, try out their new make up etc) and leave it to the magic pixies to push the jet back into the HAS and fix all the things they've broken during the flight. So basically, what we need are larger taxiways around the HAS sites so we can actually do the above without having to drive on the grass (and get stuck).
