Warthog Activation WTF

so my computer decided to automatically update itself today and delete its history. All the programs i installed are still there somehow. when i went to play dcs a-10c it started up normal when when i went to fly, an activation window came up and asked for my serial number. i downloaded the game from a website ( i forget what its called) and cannot find the serial number. where is the serial number located??????

Their website is www.digitalcombatsimulator.com but I think it's also available on Direct2Drive. It's probably a good idea to keep track of where you buy things from. :)

 

Also they probably sent you an email with the details, so if you kept that...

lol it wasnt digital sim website, i couldnt buy it from there because my card wouldnt work. i got it from another website and i cant find the serial number. i had the game for like 5 moths already but my computer updated and i need the serial # to play

So, best-case, 5 months ago you bought this game and now you have absolutely zero knowledge of where you got it. Since the key you get isn't in a text file included with the game (and would never be for obvious reasons), the only way to actually get one would be on a hard copy of the game or through the digital service you bought it on, so since you allegedly bought it online, why would we know where you got it from when you don't even know? Additionally, let's pretend you did buy it online - you decided to forgo the legit channels for online purchase (Steam? This website? Any other major digital distributor? Amazon?) and yet have no record of it. All this is moot since two weeks ago you didn't even know if your system could run the game, so in less than two weeks you have no idea where this purchase took place. Finally, your computer 'updated' and 'deleted its history', and last I checked Windows is not and has never been in the habit of erasing its own registry. However, what did happen is the 1.1.0.8 patch which required a re-activation.

 

Yeah this seems totally legit.

I figure best-case he either bought a used copy and now can't get in contact with the guy who sold it to him, or almost the same actually bought a pirated copy with a legit 'key'.

 

Either way, no paper trail, no 'credit card issues', absolutely zero idea how to get it, with the interestingly naive move to ask for a key on the forum for the game itself means that this wasn't done 'officially'.

5 months sounds about right. You just have to use new math.

 

Since "2 weeks" has a 99% probability of equaling infinity, +- 1 "weekend", then "like 5 months" is < or equal to 5 days, excluding holidays.
