Many thanks to the ED team for these, I can see some really great cockpits coming out for release soon!!

The only problem here is that this technology is VERY old, and we don't support it for a long time.

Thanks for taking the time to locate and compile these, ED! I'm not sure if it will be possible to find 3ds Max 3.1 if it's required, however...

Crow managed to find 3.1 last night I think, earliest I have in my collection is 7.

No problem Olgerd, I'm sure the modders can figure something out. At least it stops all the hacks of the code to get cockpits working which will be neater.

I'm a bit sceptic about this quite outdated tool.

Since I was decided to create a Mig-21 cockpit I learnt a lot of things about how possible the cockpit creation, how belong the objects/things for each other and which way the best to reach the optimal final. Almost all things possible except the HUD/MFD/Radar content changes due it's hardcoded through several layer. Using this knowledge I hope we will release a good and realistic 3D cockpit very soon.

The other things is the old .cmd cockpit's are based on the 2D planes/layer structure that is a bit old concept if you compare with the KA-50 and A-10C .lom cockpits.

So I think this tool "release" is forced by circumstances and a bit later also...

Sorry guys to be so late with these tools. I personally was trying to do my best to make them public. The problem was to make at least primitive documentation, as all the programmers who made the tools are not working in ED anymore, and only one artist left who has the knowledge of how to use them.

I honor your efforts I know sometimes very hard to make a good package about an outdated things. But this tool is too old to we could make any proper cockpit with it in 2011 I guess.

Fact is, regardless of whether or not we can put them to use, it was very good of you (singular or plural) to put out the effort to help the modding community, and you can bet we take any help we can get! :)

I'll e-mail Autodesk to find out how much their selling max 3.1 for.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Wasn't Gmax based on an early version on 3ds max... or visa versa?

Whether these tools are outdated or not, the point remains that ED are still supporting the modding community, even when the team that put the tools together many years ago have left.

I'm sure a lot of us have been asking for these tools for a long time to get custom cockpits into FC2 with full functionality, my team and I are very grateful.
