Zakatak Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) THIS IS MY QUESTION LAST THREAD EVER! I SWEAR! I asked this already in another thread, but that was more of an 'also, by the way...' thing so I didn't get an answer. Anyway, I found this extremely distracting and annoying, likely because I have OCD and this is inconsistent with the rest of the graphics in this game. My Su-25 has... holes in it. No, cracks. Look at the picture below, notice how the top of the middle fuselage is rigid in comparison to the rest? It doesn't blend with other geometry, leaving big ugly cracks you can see right through. Same with the engines, cracks where they meet the fuselage. My ATI 5670M is set to "Optimal Quality" and no other models in game have this ugliness, so that isn't the problem at all. I know it isn't supposed to look like that, because it looks purty in the Encyclopedia/Youtube videos. Does anybody know an Su-25 add-on? This sucks, because the 25T is a fat cow with the grace of an eagle (that is piloting a deflated blimp), and because I am getting my Student Pilot Permit (so I can have my PPL after 45 hours of flight), I want to know on how to fly without a fawkin HUD. 159th_Viper Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 .....because the 25T is a fat cow with the grace of an eagle (that is piloting a deflated blimp).... Then you need to learn how to fly the T-Toad ;) As far as flyables are concerned and if you're after the essence of flight, the T-Toad is still the best plane at present. Oh yes, buzzing around at 800 - 1000km/h can hardly be considered the practice of a 'fat cow' or 'deflated blimp'. Turn off the HUD in the T-Toad and put in the hours - you'll be surprised. aap_flanker Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I highly recomend that you use the next configuration at your video card to get the best quality results: AA to at least 4X or 8Xs it's ok AA mode: supersampling Antisotropic filtering: 16X and Mipmap details: High Quality and at fc2 options: texture quality: high try with this Intel i5 11700F + H80 | 4x4GB 3200mhz RAM | AORUS ELITE B560M | Samsung 850 PRO SSD 256gb| KINGSTON SA400 480GB SSD | WD 500GB | Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB | Antec 1200 PSU | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and homemade panels and rudder pedals | 24" Samsung T24C550 @60Hz 2ms | Opentrack 3 led clip
Zakatak Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 I highly recomend that you use the next configuration at your video card to get the best quality results: AA to at least 4X or 8Xs it's ok AA mode: supersampling Antisotropic filtering: 16X and Mipmap details: High Quality and at fc2 options: texture quality: high try with this These all have to do with textures, how does that effect modelling? And Optimal Quality already sets it up like that.
AtaliaA1 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Can't he just download another skin for it. On the webpage under User Files and look for Skins. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. Zakatak Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) This is what it SHOULD look like (actually, better, because his AF/AA is down). Found it on SimHQ. And back to me. Observe rigid intakes. Rigid modelling, again. You can see right into the cockpit. You can clearly see where the fuselage is rigid, and where it is smooth here. Edited July 10, 2011 by Zakatak
EtherealN Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Quick note: My ATI 5670M is set to "Optimal Quality" and no other models in game have this ugliness, so that isn't the problem at all. This is not necessarily correct. Your system is either, for some reason, mixing up LOD levels, or something in the driver is causing it to break the model. Or the install is broken in some other way. But a problem only manifesting in a specific model is not necessarily evidence that it isn't the drivers or hardware that's doing it. The gaps you observe are probably created by different LOD or transforms being applied to different parts of the model. There really is no reason for this to happen that I can think of except something in the driver deciding to pull a funny on you. As for what that funny would be specifically I can't really say, drawing a blank on that. But don't write off the drivers yet. Mustang Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) Zakatak, i had a look over at another forum thread you started where you were asking for better LOD's of objects in FC2 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76472 i bet that modellod.txt is the thing screwing up your Su-25 model. I've attached the default ModelLOD.txt file, drop that in and see if it fixes things. Edited July 10, 2011 by Mustang
slug88 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 This is what it SHOULD look like (actually, better, because his AF/AA is down). Found it on SimHQ. Actually it should look much better than that; that shot shows the old Su-25 model from LOMAC/FC1. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Zakatak Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 *tries Mustangs LOD.txt* :/ nope It only seems to be the fuselage and engines/intakes, the rest looks fine.

Zakatak Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 4x/16x, respectively. 1 notch below the highest setting, I'm positive this isn't the problem.
Mustang Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I could swear that the low poly model thing is a ModelLOD issue, cannot think of anything else that would do this...wierd.
Zakatak Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 My ModelLOD file is fine, so perhaps the model itself is corrupted? I'm not sure how this would work, but could somebody somehow maybe add an attachment to there post that contains the model files? If that isn't possible, don't go through the trouble of uploading it to LockOnFIles.com or something, you don't need to.
aap_flanker Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Zakatak, i had a look over at another forum thread you started where you were asking for better LOD's of objects in FC2 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76472 i bet that modellod.txt is the thing screwing up your Su-25 model. I've attached the default ModelLOD.txt file, drop that in and see if it fixes things. I really doubt that this is the problem, because I don't have the same "bug" Zakatak : when I back to home I will upload the models of the su-25 (.lom - including LODs) and will upload for you, so you can check that your models are not corrupted. Zakatak Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 Don't it's fixed. Just changed the visibility distance to Low to Medium.
aap_flanker Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Don't it's fixed. Just changed the visibility distance to Low to Medium. It was so simple!! xD  Well, I'm glad for you!!!! Zakatak Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 You guys were right about the model for this thing though, hot damn. Engines be spinning and everything. I thought they didn't spin on Su-25T, but I guess this problem was affecting it too (just harder to notice). 1
Mustang Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Seems your solution for solving the low poly models worked for another guy  http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1248041#post1248041
