Cali Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Nice, can't wait to see the set-up. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Succellus Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 That will be nice for sure! HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. Track IR 5, Hall sensed Cougar, Hall sensed TM RCS TM Warthog(2283), TM MFD, Saitek pro combat rudder, Cougar MFD.
walker450 Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 Well I finally got everything up and running... have to go to that place... called work.... during the day :) I also done a fresh install of Win 7. So far I have only played IL2:COD and DCS:BS. COD stutters horribly on higher settings but DCS is quite smooth on higher settings. I am still tweaking it though. I plan on installing FC2, ROF, and FSX. The LED screens are really awesome!!! The picture is much better than I expected for $150 monitors (on sale through Wal-Mart.com)!! HitchHikingFlatlander Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Nice Walker! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
dotChuckles Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Very nice! Can I ask which Acer monitors those are? They have the very thin bezels that I'm looking for. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
FreeFall Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 (edited) Nice rig, Walker! Slightly Off-Topic, but anyway... My humble newbie setup, don't laugh...: :joystick: Edited July 30, 2011 by FreeFall
leafer Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Your hotas looks pretty cool, Walker. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Cali Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 What no girls in the pictures? Looking nice, hopefully one day I'll get 3 screens running. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
BigBANGtheory Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Are you guys tempted to get the joystick center mounted?
FreeFall Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Yes. I'd like to have my stick center mounted. But the 15-degree-tweak would also be required to avoid wrist pain. If only there were a "quick button" to change the Thrustmaster Warthog stick from F-16 version to center mounted A-10 version, and vice versa.
walker450 Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 Thanks for all of the nice comments guys! The HOTAS is a X-65F (absolutely love it, and plus I like the looks of it too!!) The monitors are ACER S231HL's, and yes they have thin bezels that I am very happy with. I will post a video ASAP of everything in action. I plan on totally redisigning the pit this coming winter. They whole thing was basically a working prototype to figure out what I want to keep and what to change. I plan on staying with the side mount joystick. I am not too concerned with keeping anything realistic. The side stick position is extremely natural and ergonomically correct for me. And FreeFall, great pit you have!! I envy all of the capabilities and vast information of the monitors. I don't plan on deviating from my current triple monitor FOV setup. I don't think I could ever give up the landscape view. My understanding is that you can simply adjust the settings in the software to adjust for mounting the stick at a slight angle for center usage. I'm sure a little googling would answer all questions. Men your setting surpass 85% of what people have here. Just buy yourself a good led TV with a quick response time, inferior to 3 seconds and your set. I m going to the 37le5300 as soon as i get someone to help me with my pit structure...Finally got the money to fire the project up. And even fully finished it wont be as good as yours, only 2 monitors. HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. I don't plan on deviating from my current triple monitor FOV setup. I don't think I could ever give up the landscape view. Thanks! I did consider a three monitor eyefinity setup as well, but after purchasing TrackIR 5 I feel very comfortable with only one main monitor. The tiny monitor with attached MFCD-frames is a cheap 18.5" Acer. The rightmost is a 23" HP touch screen. My mobile phone cam pic shows the dimensions of the screens maybe a bit distorted because the 24" main screen appears to be tinier than the touch screen, although it is not. And they are both 1920 x 1080. :smilewink: My understanding is that you can simply adjust the settings in the software to adjust for mounting the stick at a slight angle for center usage. I'm sure a little googling would answer all questions. I haven't installed the Target-software at all, and on the other hand AFAIK just changing software settings cannot fully get the "mission accomplished": http://forum.lockon.ru/showpost.php?p=1048283&postcount=4 I think some hardware mod is needed: http://www.warthogworld.com/hangar/content.php?4-How-to-physically-offset-your-Warthog-by-15-degrees! Free fall are you skydiver ? Too bad, no...
Cali Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 $450 for 3 LED's isn't bad, I like the side stick better myself also, but I guess I'm use to it. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
ChrisIhao Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Slightly Off-Topic, but anyway... My humble newbie setup, don't laugh...: Pfft. Humble... Your "modesty" is unbecoming ;) Better than most setups out there to be honest. Hehe. Wish Nvidia cards had 3 monitor support without going SLI :P Is that middle screen one of those newer Dell touch screens that can fold down really low? I regretted not getting one of those as I would have been able to put it in the middle like you do here. My system: Win 10, Amd Ryzen 3700@stock GTX1080 Ti, 34" Asus G-sync ultrawide monitor, Ipad Air, 32 gigs of 3600 ram, complete CH HOTAS setup, Oculus Rift CV1/Trackir5 and a Saitek Quadrant Been simming since the Commodore 64. A few million polygons ago.
FreeFall Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Is that middle screen one of those newer Dell touch screens that can fold down really low? You talkin' to me? :D With my main screen and the one (below that) with MFCDz I use this one: http://www.ergotron.com/Products/tabid/65/PRDID/355/Default.aspx It's very handy. The rightmost one is a HP touch screen, with its own stand. Only tilt is adjustable. But will do.
