August 1st, 2011 - The most renowned dynamic multiplayer campaign, The Georgian Incident, is set to resume. Featuring multi-squadron operations, turn based strategic maneuvers, resource management and live ground controllers... The Georgian Incident utilizes every asset of the industry leading simulation platforms by Eagle Dynamics: the DCS:KA-50 and Flaming Cliffs 2, to push virtual immersion to it's limits. Each coalition will have the ability to manage resources, relocate and deploy units, draft and execute plans of action - which results in a fully dynamic front-line. For further details on rules and procedures please direct your attention to the attached SOPs.

Starting August 1st, squadrons that have actively participated in the previous installment of the campaign, The Crimean Incident, as well as those squadrons that we see active in the community will begin to receive invitation letters for this event. We are also open to review applications from squadrons that wish to participate but did not receive the invitation by August 5th, please direct your attention to our forum(link below).

Should Eagle Dynamics develop a compatibility patch for DCS:A-10C, the Georgian Incident campaign will expand to incorporate interested squadrons into the operations.

Upon hearing back from all of the invited squadrons and reviewing potential interested squadrons a meeting with officers of each participating squadron will be scheduled to address any concerns and set the campaign start date.

I am certainly looking forward to this, as CI was a blast that was unfortunately and prematurely suspended due to FC2 release.... zzz

Even though I dont have that much time to fly lately, I will make time for this, thats for sure! :)

btw, Crunch, still care for BLUEFOR Commander? We need to make a meeting and appoint key people as last time out. But I reckon you would be very high on the list of candidates as you are already in the full knowhow on the workings of GI!

Also our recent GCI events went well so we can expect full ATC/GCI support! yay! And I saw that 104th was active in handling BLUE GCI for the last weekend, which is great practice for GI... sweet! ;)

Cant wait!

I am for sure a little busier than normal, but I plan to fly as much as possible. I have asked if there are any other 104th interested in General for now. I could assist the General much as possible. Hopefully we'll have a list of 104th for you guys by the weekend, We already have half a dozen.

I encourage all those invited to participate. The previous campaign was some of the best simming I had the pleasure of doing.

Hello.

I am member of a newly founded squadron but with experienced members in flight sims.

We are interested in participating in the The Georgian Incident campaign, but we have to know first when will the first flights begin.

As i said we are still organising our squad and we have to check if we can be ready for the dates of the event. We can bring 2 to 4 pilots

PS

I cant register to the forum http://forum.51st.org/viewforum.php?f=45 cause I cant see the confirmation code.

Thanks a lot!

Buon Giorno!

you're using an automatic generator of situations type Seow of Il2 ?

No, we start with a pre-designed mission where blue controls the area near Anapa and most of Georgia while red controls the rest of the map. The Georgian Incident campaign is made up out of turns where each turn lasts 3 hours and turns are separated by two weeks. After each turn the mission is updated, units and aircraft that were destroyed will be removed, aircraft that were transferred to other bases will be moved there, and units that moved during the turn will start at their new position in the next turn.

Both coalitions will have a General who is in charge of battle planning and the placement, movement and targeting of ground units. This is only allowed when a coalition has the attack turn, which will alternate between turns. During a turn when the the General has the ability to attack he can add and move ground units based on the rules outlined in the operating procedures (see PDF in first post). As such, after each turn the mission will be different from where it started and it will evolve as the campaign progresses.

During the winter of 2009/2010 we ran a similar campaign called Crimean Incident. This used Flaming Cliffs 1.12 and we did 6 turns in total and it was a great success. Unfortunately FC2 came out and people stopped flying FC1.12 which meant the end of the campagin. Georgian Incident is the continuation of this campaign, now using FC2.

Great, one last question! When will this campaign? there is already a date set? is no possibility of the replacement campaign started?

There is no date set, but we are planning to start the campaign in September. Before that time we need to get the interested squadrons involved and decide on some issues that would involve those squadrons.

We are discussing the topic at the =STP=forum as well ...

we are currently evaluating how many of us can participate

But i think =STP= will only fly as BlackShark pilots ;-)

There are two types of fighter pilots - those who have, and those who will execute a magnificent break turn towards a bug on the canopy . . . .

Thank you everyone for continued interest in this campaign, we are still waiting for responses from a few squadrons as well as evaluating those who have expressed interest in participating in this event.

Please disregard the initial August 5th deadline for invites to go out, I fell behind schedule (also some forums are in foreign languages which makes it a little difficult to register and proceed) and thus some of the squads will continue to receive invitations.

I have also received numerous private messages with various questions, so let me use this opportunity to answer some of the more frequent ones:

Q: Has this event already started?

A: No, the event has not been started, we are still in the process of reviewing all of the squads that expressed interest in this event, as well as inviting more squadrons to participate.

Q: When is the start date?

A: Once we feel that we have enough squadrons signed up we will schedule a meeting for senior officers to discuss the start date as well as any further questions. A rough guesstimate puts the campaign start date at end of August beginning of September.

Q: Is the campaign players vs AI or players vs players?

A: The campaign is definitely players vs. players! However, we utilize all of the available units that are controlled by AI to simulate the most realistic battlefield environment Flaming Cliffs 2 and DCS: KA-50 can offer. Generals will have the ability to assign waypoints, deploy reinforcements and carry out maneuvers with the AI units.

Q: Can lone-wolfs (squad-less pilots) participate?

A: Unfortunately, no. From our previous experience this event requires squadron-wide approach, as it is demanding and doesn't last one day.

Q: What if some of our pilots will not be able to attend on one of the days?

A: This is one of the "hidden" features of Georgian Incident, just like in real life situations you never know what may happen, one day red coalition may be outnumbered and may be forced to defend instead of attack, the other day blue coalition may be outnumbered and will be forced to do the same. However, we do advise squadrons to have back-up pilots for event days so that things remain as balanced as possible. We will do our best to assign squadrons to both coalitions such that the numbers of active pilots are balanced.

Hope this answers some of the more frequent questions.

Regards,

-Soviet

We will hold a little (drop-in) Q&A session today starting from ~1800z. Anyone interested in the campaign or anyone that have questions about it is welcome to join 51st TS3. There will probably be one or two more of these Q&A sessions.

See you there! :)
