What are your plans for the switch panels?

The MFDs would be ok as those Cougers are light weight but an ahcp panel being switched will put a bit of pressure on the cardboard?

Can you reinforce it?

Here's a little update ...

I made a panel, I used a carboard called 1 +2, it is much stronger than usual.

So Mr_Burns you to not need to strengthen it, it's really strong as it is, feels like the switches

sitting in metal:)

No need to pay attention to the photo paper I used for is an old and worn image, wrinkled and ugly ... "printer does not work"

This is awesome, definitely subscribing.

You should make a kit but different variations.

For instance, one who want the full pit to put switches and etc., or those who just would like a place to sit and somewhere to place their stick and throttle on the sides.

For example, Flim's "Light" build.

Of course not to copy his but an idea. Just a seat, stick, and throttle areas. And later if the itch comes, they can add more stuff like the actual dash and etc.

I was skeptical at first... but I think you are definitely onto something.

I believe a blend would be most effective... utilizing traditional plywood for the structure. The cardboard could be used for all panels, which makes it extremely easy to mount a multitude of switches and easy to label.

I am extremely impressed with what you have already. Great Work!!!!

Looks real good !

But i think there is going to be needed some harder material on the front of the panel.

Evergreen have some plastic that works fine.

Glue the plastic to the front, and turn it around and drill.

I think this is brilliant. If nothing else, it defines the space, almost instantly.

For switch panel reinforcement, clipboard generally works prettty good. I've gone through a lot of dollar store clipboards.

They are no meaning to strengthen it when it is already strong:)

Thanks man!!

The 1+2 carboard is ideal for panels, it becomes very strong.

And easy to work whit.

I'm sure it is strong. It even looks strong. The dificulty, I think, is that it's not hard.

I've made some changes that make the cockpit will be much easier to build.

I havent used any glue to build the main part, so its a very nice fit:)

I can't find it to save my life but a while back I am sure I found a site that sold some type of desktop mini cockpit that was largely cardboard. I actually laughed it off at the time but now...

I'm sure there's a market out there.

I wouldn't be so sure... I've had an AAP, EWMU, and environment panels available for sale for a week now and so far no takers. Then again, maybe my panels just aren't good enough.

How do you guys make the letters like that in your panels? What machine or stickers? It's one of those details that my pit is surely missing

Even if ti doesn't hold up, they'll make good MDF templates regardless. Prototype in corrugated and do the final in MDF.

yes it is a anternativ

Very nice! I see templates/cockpits kits just may be in your future! I'm sure there's a market out there.

Thanks man!!

I keep on working at it, there are some things that need to be fixed..

I'm very interested in this. I have a few questions though... have you tried the pit with pedals on the base? If so, when using the pedals, does the pit shake? On the top side parts of the pit, between the front panel and back plate is a space. Do you plan on making a cover for those sides, or leaving it open? I noticed you started work on the side panel (right side I believe). Will that be part of the package too?

Lastly, any idea at all what this will all cost? I kind of don't have the time or money to build my pit, and having this would be a great "my pit until..." kind of thing.

no I have not tried with pedals, i have the part for the gap but so far only on the top and not the sides ... planning to do something that covers the sides to.

Yes, both left and right panels will be included in a kit.

I can not say now what it will cost, I know that later on when all the parts and stuff are done.
