ArtMan_NL Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) Hi all, i am thinking to buy a new Hotas. The problem is I can't make a good choice between these 2. I was wondering about the difference in build quality and the quality of the software delivered with these 2 hotas. The difference in price isn't much anymore just 20 euro here in the Netherlands. CADelta Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Hey ArtMan_NL, Could you please state what Sim you will primarily be using it for? If it's for DCS A-10C then Warthog no doubt mate, actually my vote will be on Warthog all the way, it's build quality and it's feel is in one word Sublime :D /Krycek = CAD = Krycek [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I try to save a life a day. Usually it's my own!
ArtMan_NL Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 He Krycek, I use it for BS and A10. (Just started with A10) I know both Hotas have advantages en disadvantages but the most important thing is the quality for me. I know the older hotas of thrust master wasn't that good....(without the expensive mods) Arthur
Sarge55 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I use my Warthog for A-10C, BS, FC2 and yes, even in ARMA2 and it works great. Like CADelta I love the feel and build of the Warthog but to be fair I have not used the X-65F to be able to provide a true comparison. With respect to software though, if the X-65F software is anything like it's predecessor the X-52Pro SST it is crap.... Since the X-65F has a twist function for the rudder (I'm pretty sure) that is an advantage over the Warthog since you would need to get pedals, unless of course you already have a some. ArtMan_NL Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 Thanks for your reply Sarge55, Yes I have rudderpedals so thats not an issue. How about the software of the Warthog. Is it easy to use and well explained in a manual? Arthur
MTFDarkEagle Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 It's easy to use once you get used to it. It can be a bit difficult at start, but pull through and the software is quite powerfull! Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
WRFirefox Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 The Warhog was my first choice - but yesterday the "Saitek-Devil" found the X65F for 222,90 € at ebay - so the difference in price is, round about, 100 € - much money for my Pit (hardware-update, panels ......) - so the "Saitek-Devil" wins the battle against the "TM Warthog-Angel" :devil_2: - and there are only 4 left for this price......:pilotfly:

elchacal Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 For DCS A-10 I think that the TMWH is the best choice! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
WRFirefox Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 ....with certainty is the TMWH a high-class choice. But I would like to develop the whole system. And there exists only a restricted finance frame. And with this well-arranged offer of the X65F there are still Saitek Pedals in the budget without any cent more......:smilewink:
Dudikoff Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Had the same dilemma. Was pretty sure I'd get the Warthog, but the frequent posts describing various problems and malfunctions got me thinking. Then I found a supposedly barely used X65 on ebay for 150 EUR (about twice less then what I'd pay for the Warthog - I'd have gone for the new unit because of the many problems) and couldn't resist the opportunity. Unfortunately, it will be some time before I get my hands on it so I can't give you any impressions. ArtMan_NL Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 Yes, this post is completely useless. No, I find it useful. A lot of people like the warthog because it fits the A-10. I don't want to put all my cards on one simulator.
ilikepie Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I don't want to put all my cards on one simulator. i use the WH: hotas on different things, ROF IL2 BS ....... i chose the WH over a 65 as i did not like the force sensing on the 65. i wanted a stick with travel. BigBANGtheory Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I am going to answer your question in a round a-bout fashion if you don't mind... I honestly look forward to the day I see Saitek develop a top-end control system that surpasses the TM Hotas Warthog.

Steel Jaw Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 So which would be better for primarily Falcon? x65 or TMWH? MTFDarkEagle Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 If I were to make a guess.. the WH, because the stick is identical. However, I cannot say anything on the throttle, as I don't know the F-16's logic yet. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Steel Jaw Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 The TMWH thorottle seems very bulky and awkward...? Total Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 The WH was out of my price range, but it bothered me seeing the reports of people paying $500 for a HOTAS and it dying on some of them. That's a good chunk of cash. Saitek's customer support is not as robust as it once was. That worried me. If the WH is out of your price range, I would suggest going with CH instead of the X-65. CH's are known for their longevity and they're more affordable than the X-65, and their customer support is still active and involved. They've also been in business since 1977 working on motion controls for commercial, industrial, and military.
Steel Jaw Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 IIRC CH has not come out with anything new for HOTAS lately, just the same old stuff from years ago. Total Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Why mess up a proven design? ;) I do wish it had a split throttle, but for the price, something had to give.
