molleh Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I don't understand why ED don't just release BS2 on Steam as a full standalone game, and then include a 50% reduction for those accounts that already have BS registered. It's been done many, many times on Steam and would work PERFECTLY. I hope ED works around this because it's going to determine if I ever buy another ED title (much less BS2).
GGTharos Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Unfortunately, for undisclosed reasons, Steam has declined to sell Black Shark 2. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Mohamengina Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Unfortunately, for undisclosed reasons, Steam has declined to sell Black Shark 2. That's a bitch move on Valve's part. Where should we direct our rage towards? And more importantly, how can I upgrade my Steam version?
GGTharos Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I would reccomend a polite petition of their forums if you wish to protest as one of their customers, but I would ask you to refrain from raging :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
molleh Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Can we please get some kind of update then on how Steam purchasers can upgrade?
213 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 they're going to release an updated setup exe that detects steam bs1 installs.
kylania Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 That's a bitch move on Valve's part. Where should we direct our rage towards? And more importantly, how can I upgrade my Steam version? mpgeist Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I can't believe this would be more niche than all that train sim crap they keep releasing on there. I'm glad I didn't get the Steam version now, hopefully this doesn't end up happening to A-10C.
kiss4luna Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 i thought i should wait for the steam version, but seems like i need to transfer back to my dl version RTX 3070
Fuby Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) Well, you have two sides to every conflict.. DCS has not been on Steam long.. they already have a new Black Sharks up.. added A10c and now want another version of Black Shark up... Steam may be saying, use one or the other.. then it comes to sales.. maybe DCS is not selling on Steam.. so they (steam) don't think it's worth the time invested to add the new one.. Best bet.. wait for the fix for steam users if your tight on funds.. or like myself..just go ahead and buy it out right from DCS and be done with it.. at 40 bucks more.. who really cares.. it's our hobby.. DCS must need the money or wouldn't suggest it and gave it away...wake up..they need to make money! so give it up.. and let's get back to enjoying the game.. We get to buy the nevada map next..;).. who said we aint hav'n fun!! Edited November 5, 2011 by Fuby Games-Survival.com
74th_Lunatic Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong, but the key for steam also works with the version downloaded direct from the DCS website, so much ado about nothing. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
kylania Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong, but the key for steam also works with the version downloaded direct from the DCS website, so much ado about nothing. For A-10C it does, but not for Black Shark. There's no "Show CD key" for BS as there is for A-10C. EtherealN Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 To be precise: DCS:BS1 on Steam uses Steam's integrated DRM. Obviously, Steam DRM does not generate a starforce key, which is what the download versions on the DCS site use. DCS:A-10C on Steam cannot use Steam's integrated DRM, since there is no 64-bit support in that. So it uses what Steam classes as "3rd-party DRM" - Starforce ProActive, same as on the DCS site. molleh Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Yep, I have BS1 on Steam and the upgrade installer worked fine :)
Mohamengina Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Awesome, should be up and flying tonight then if that's the case.
Gimpymoo Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Unfortunately, for undisclosed reasons, Steam has declined to sell Black Shark 2. Have you tried to sell it as DLC instead of a seperate store item? That would make more sense and as far as I am aware, will be less of an issue to get DLC listed instead of a new product.
Soulbrighter Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I am happy about what the way to upgrade opened for my BS1! Because Steam does not support 64bit game, I accept this compromise plan.
GGTharos Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Can't comment. Have you tried to sell it as DLC instead of a seperate store item?
