I have to admit that I caved in and got it the other day. Was originally going to wait with that since... time... But now I find myself sitting here waiting for midnight... :D

I'm contemplating getting it. I liked FO3 and NV but Oblivion..not so much. Skyrim may be too long for me to sit through without guns IDK a good battle axe might do.

Very nice, except for the sporadic CTD's - not even an error code or anything, just shuts itself down, so can't even begin to track the problem. :(

The fact that Alt-Tab equals black-screened game is also frustrating.

But well, the game has now taught me to re-learn the old habit of spamming the quicksave button, so it's starting to shape up. :P

Aside from the atrocious UI, which at first nearly put me off the game - I even used my gamepad for a couple of hours before I switched back to m/k - I'm loving it, must've played 8 hours straight until I had my first freeze. Well, it was just about the right time for breakfast, anyway.

Yeah, I'm starting to suspect that the crashes I've had (and they're not terribly frequent - frequent enough to be mighty anoying, but not enough to really spoil the game) are in some way memory related: they seem to happen as I transition out from cities or buildings, or very shortly thereafter.

Might reduce draw distance and see if that changes anything. But it's weird though - it's almost like they've got a GOTO END (lol) whenever it notices that it might run out of memory, instead of actually letting the memory fault happen (and thus give me some clues through the error code and faulting module).

Aside from the atrocious UI

Holy crap, atrocious is an understatement. The buy-sell dialogue is just ridiculous. :( It's almost like they want to coerce people into going console. WTF, Bethesda?

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Would not surprise me. Their Q/A investments would plummet extremely if they were to get us PC "doodz" to move to console. (And I admit I originally played Oblivion on my Xbox, worked well until the Xbox started being a Microsoft product ... )

No, you´re wrong. They dont want to force Console Games, they want to make more money by supporting PC AND Console Games. But this is not new and a nuisances since a couple of years.

The Problem is that the Consoles are not a technicale equivalent to PC hardware, that´s why games for PC´s can not use all of their technicle possibilities, which is a real pain in the but.

The Games where such a thing has most been notfied was Crysis 2 and Dead Space 2. Skyrim is similar to this annoying issue.

But Skyrim rocks nontheless!!!

Memphis, you're not quite on-base there.

For example, none other that Carmack himself has stated that the Xbox development environment is the best he has ever worked with, and he has complained loudly at the vast amount of wasted resources that happen on PC. The PC may have pure brute force that outclasses the console, but through being such a heterogenous platform, forcing an inefficient API, you end up unable to actually use that power.

If every PC being sold had a specific processor, a specific mobo, a specific graphics card, etcetera, this would be different. Then they could code directly to the hardware and things would be amazing. But as it is with PC's, they have to make code that then runs with several abstraction layers and also has to work with an almost infinite number of hardware combinations... The fact that it doesn't perform to the expectations of the "brute force" capabilities of the PC is no surprise at all.

Personally I feel the cost is worth it to be able to build a machine that fits my own needs, but this is not only a "consoles are the devil limiting PC's" thing. PC's do a fine job limiting themselves.

An interesting game indeed, real shame about the horrific UI for pc tho, wish they could do a better job on it.

As for graphics being the same as console i dont mind, i prefer good gameplay over graphics any day. Will probably end up bying it for xbox (when it comes down in price) and have some good couch action over going trough it on pc, i just cant deal with ports.

There's a lot of love for Skyrim everywhere and I'm surprised. I was quite underwhelmed by the whole plot and wasn't really motivated to do any of the quests.

What was that random civilian? Oh? You need help with some menial chore? Sure, saving the world/(insert generic cliché reason here) can wait. This is FAR more important.

What was that Jarl? I saved your hide from a dragon and get the privilege to buy a house in your town for the low, low price of 5000? Why thank you!

I don't mean to hate on the game. It's okay at best, noting revolutionary or even close. I loved Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas by the way. Just worried by the direction it's going in. Even the unique lock picking system was replaced by fallout's own system. I'm not even going to get started on the perks.

The only RPG I loved was the original Fall Out, the rest, though, I can't stand. Having said that, WTF? Is that petition for real?

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

LOL, skyrim produced by blizzard entertainment.

These guys don't know jack about computer games. Dear lord, in the 60s it was rock music that was a vessel of satan, nowadays it's computer games? These people need to make up their minds.

said it better than i ever could.

I agree, it seems that since Morrowind, elements have continued to be 'dumbed down'. Quite sad, as Morrowind was an epic game for it's time.
