LcSummers Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 The first thing i ever try is the Black See Ramp mission. Here i realized problems i never had before. Making the normal startup procedure, everything works fine. The Hog is ready to taxi to runway. I wait a couple of seconds or a minute and the problem begins: 1, The UFC shows me a failure. Engines, electrics, CDU, lights are going down and restarting. So I have to wait again until CDU reads 4.0.0.8 but now i can not engage the EAC SWITCH:( This happens all the time. Even when landing the CDU restarts (new implemented patch feature) but the right engine is spooling down and dead when taxiing to parking area. Bird collision is disabled. Any suggestions?:helpsmilie: Thank you for any help:thumbup:
EtherealN Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Regarding EAC arming, did you check that your nav system is properly set to EGI? (Under the HSI.) What i mean is when finishing MBs start up procedure an then taxiing or just waitinh this problem occurs. Trying to make a tarck Thank you
159th_Viper Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Try with another custom mission (ie simple ramp-start via editor - no units) and see if problem persists. Seems to occur after returning from a mission and during rearming and refueling or just after it is complete.
LcSummers Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Phantom453 this can be the problem. Normally i rear the aircraft before starting. So now i made another start up but without arming (accidentally) the Hog, leaving with its default weapons. And see, no problems at all. Now everything went well. As Phantom said it occures when rearming or landing/returning from a mission. Thank you EtherealN, derelor, 159th_Viper and Phantom453 for your assistance. I ´ll give it another try with and without arming my beast. PS: THIS IS THE BEST SIM ON THE MARKET. I REALLY LOVE IT!! IT BECAME AN ADDICTION!!!!:smilewink::thumbup: YOU GUYS MADE A GREAT JOB. WildFire Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Bet you everything will work itself out if you reinstall the whole game. I did a patch once and I got a strange completely random problem that I never would have guessed was related to the patch. But anytime you overwrite existing code it is bound to happen. GGTharos pretty much ordered me to keep reinstalling, 3 times all in all. And he was right. Uninstall and reinstall, the mods really should stress it more. If your seeing problems immediately after the patch, reinstall. Go ahead and figure they didnt release a brand new update with ridiculous bugs in plain sight. These guys test the crap out of this game before it gets released so you can be assured of that. I tried to patch this time just to see and sure enough I ended up completely reinstalling a few hours later. Its a no brainer at this point. Its not anyones fault, it just happens overwriting code. I think it has something to do with processors going a lot faster than hard drives and the hard drive missing a few ones and zeros, but thats just a simple logical totally unfounded guess....
derelor Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I reflew the mission again - this time with rearming. I also experienced "some strange engine weirdness". I think it has to do with another bug I already reported: The same happens (at least to me) at the start of the "AGM-65 Maverick" Training Mission, directly before takeoff. Engine instruments are going crazy at mission start which often (not always) causes the left engine to fail! 1338 - beyond leet ED Forum rules EN|DE|RU
Joe Johnson Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Hi! Happened to me yesterday too. Black See Ramp Start. I went through the startup, both engines were running. I was reading the manual (I'm new to the Hog thanks to PayPal) doing nothing in the cockpit. After 2-3 minutes suddenly the right engine went down. I thought it might be one of the random failures. Restarted the engine without problems. Intel Core i5 750 @ 4 GHz, 8GB Ram, ATI Radeon 5800, Saitek X52 HOTAS & Pedals, TIR 5, Wondows 7 64bit
LcSummers Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Yeah cool, it is confirmed. Its not only me having this problem. As i wrote this happend when landed at Kutaisi and rolled to parking area too. CDU crash and right engine down. Cheers LC Edited November 13, 2011 by LcSummers
WildFire Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Played a MP mission with four people and we had engine shutdowns on the ground. We figured it was due to the cold weather. Keep your engine above idle on the ground and keep your APU running just in case. Keep the APU gen running so you dont lose your alignment. Shutdown the APU once airborne.
Vantskruv Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 After having patched the game from 1.1.0.9 to 1.1.1.0, this happened to me also when flying in the unguided bomb tutorial. Both MFD shutdown and almost everything blacked out, so something is wrong allright. Can the cause be that I did a nasty thing and installed the the patch over my steam-installation manually?

Maybe you are right but Black See Ramp mission is in warm weather and those shutdowns occurs when rearming aircraft.
Inseckt Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Extreme winds can shut down an engine. Think it's got something to do with the wind corrupting the airflow into the engine, and thereby stalling it. I've had it happen a couple of times as well (both 1.1.0.9 and 1.1.1.0), but only in missions with considerable wind-strengths. So this is not a bug if i understand it correctly? Its kind of normal when winds are high. So i have to get used to it. :noexpression:
Snoopy Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 FYI, it's know and ED is looking into it....strong wind shouldn't stall the engine in the sim (as it doesn't real world). v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
LcSummers Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 (edited) The strange thing is in the Black See Ramp mission: No rearming: NO SHUTDOWN REARMING: shutdown Fly the missions with both settings. Make a normal startup without rearming the Hog and land at Kubilati. NO PROBLEMS and NO SHUTDOWNS even with throtlle set to IDLE. The same mission with rearming. Engine shutdown, CDU restarting. After landing and taxiing to parcking area the same shutdown. PS: DO WE GETE A HOTFIX? Edited November 15, 2011 by LcSummers
Ghoullees Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 This has happened to me as well, and only since patch. Now that the CDU takes longer to go through its routine properly, it means more time at idle, and, as mentioned, with rearming, seems to increase the odds of a shut down. The concept of a strange cross wind shutting the engines down is pretty much a load of bull. The engines will suck air quite nicely even if the wind is coming from the rear in real life. This is a bug, or a mis implemented 'feature' with engine rpms, or the new CDU airport alignments kicking in during taxiing and landing... apparrently. Fingers crossed its an easy fix.
