Illustration of the principle 'EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE'. Also a good reminder as to why news is sometimes scarce/well-worded - when all does not pan out as it should due to reasonable circumstances unforeseen, ED are never made to forget it, are they ;)

And also an illustration of the principle that testers are not project leads... Surprise. :P

"EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE" I do not deny that, but convincing me something has never been said and I'm imagining things is not what I expect of you guys. Why did I have to dig years old posts to prove this "9 month period" is not in my imagination when you know that already. Can't you just tell "I'm not allowed to talk about this or that..." or if you are allowed to talk about it to simply give the required info without someone having to literally take it out from your mouths.

I'll exagerrate a bit here but some of you look like you've signed a new NDA recently, acting kinda jumpy, not open like you used to be to criticism on the sim's flaws (something I noted on several occasions in different threads lately). This may seem funny to you but I haven't been around for a while and this was not like that before so it must be new.

Here's the thing Topol:

9 month thing has nothing to do with current affairs. As I already explained.

Also, as I alrady explain, what a tester says is not gospel truth (this includes what I say).

Not complex. ;)

Huh?

Rants and ad homs aside I'm certain no-one, including the mods and the devs, is against constructive criticism.

You should take a look at the tech support forum then.

Precisely - constructive criticism is always welcomed :)

It can, after all, only lead to the betterment of the SIM and as a consequence, our enjoyment thereof.

Right, please guys, let's not belabour the whole criticism thing. It won't bring this thread forward. As alawys, if anyone has complaints regarding moderator behaviour, please contact a community manager (Groove or EvilBivol-1).

A rant has a higher "chances of success" if it hasn't been on the board in exact same form just a week before ;-)

On the subject. I can't wait. Apart from a new airframe this module could bring some freahness into the series. You know, a different approach to implementation of certain elements, more climatic feel to the product perhaps...

Freshness? Well I've only really gotten into DCS:WH just now - and let me tell ya, a SAM in the butt sure is fresh enuff, at least for a n00b like me :D

I doubt ED would be doing propellers so suddenly, it looks more plausible to me that the flying legend would be a jet fighter/fighters. I expect it to include 2 fighters, the second one probably coming later with an add-on. So if I have to guess it would be F-4 and Mig-21.

Here is a quote from TFC index page...

Europe's Largest Collection of Airworthy Warbirds

The Fighter Collection operates, rebuilds and maintains Europe's largest collection of airworthy WWII aircraft and is based at Duxford Airfield, in the UK. Run by a professional team of engineers and pilots for both airshow and film work, the aircraft fly all over Europe during the summer months to attend airshows from Austria to Switzerland. The fleet comprises of aircraft from the UK, USA, Germany, Russia and Italy - and the collection is constantly expanding as new aeroplanes are acquired.

I think this might help clear the air abit...:pilotfly:

I wouldn't discount the popularity with WWII Warbirds with the flight Sim Community.I'd venture to say that DCS will pick up a lot of new customers who maybe wouldn't be interested in a Modern Combat Sim otherwise.

But a High Fidelity DCS Warbird would interest many,If you have any Doubts,Check out the A2A Company who are very popular in the FSX Community.

Could you just imagine the great Minds of ED/DCS and A2A teaming up and producing " Flying Legends.." all I could say is " Wow "

I am not discounting any developers talents..its just the best of both worlds...as I see it..as I love DCS and A2A..and would be forever indebt if DCS made a " P-51D Mustang "

Keep in mind, that collection also includes WWI birds. Of hand I wouldn't mind seeing a Sopwith Tripe done by ED. TFC flies one of the few replicas that there are (no real ones flying) of those as well.:P

Point taken!

Luckily, in 1917, that wasn't a major concern.

No, see the 'flying legend' will be the F/A-18, because it's old, out of date, useless, and sucks :D

No really though, I think it's a fair bet that it'll be a Cold War era aircraft, so I think the F-4 is a good guess.

My guess is that you really create a vacuum in space when you try Carrier OPs... Must be why you diss it at every turn along with the F18..
