According to the description, these are Syrian tanks massing outside the Syrian city of Homs, getting ready to attack :(. You can only ask soldiers to kill so many of their own people before they turn on you. Or so I hope.

From what I remember reading somewhere military action (international) was ruled out. No doubt there will be international sanctions.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Syria has something like 1000 of T-72 available

That's not so important. What is important is whether they have the logistical structure to keep them running. On the other hand, judging by that vid the question is largely irrelevant as it seems that as long as they have the diesel to keep the flat-beds running they'll be OK. Hope those flatbed drivers have stocked up on the ear-plugs though when the tanks open up.......

It would be more convenient if we had the East Med map in DCS rather than the East Black Sea region. Lots of potential for virtual (hopefully it stays that way) conflicts there.. And DCS:Flanker (or maybe Fulcrum?) would come in handy, too.

Unless Im missinterpreting what you wrote, I dont see the russians doing anything but dissuade in favor of Syria. Thay have always been allies. And that wont change all of a sudden.

From the article, it appears the Russian government don't seem care about the Syrians themselves (yes, yes, they are not unique in this - but it is no less true), just the arms deals they can make.

I think this trip to Syria was part of an arms transfer. The fleet is just a bit of muscle to make United Nations members think twice before halting and inspecting the transports. Supposedly this arms transfer will bring peace to the region - perhaps when the Syrian government has killed all every last opposing civilian this will be true.

Are you interpreting that you support a virtual WWIII standoff in that region?:D

if you think what happened in Libya was out of interest and compassion for the Libyans

BTW do we need another political thread?
