Datalink would be a useful one. As for suggestions, maybe autopilot or PVI-800 navigation?

 

+1 on autopilot or, just as simple as actually flying the helicopter. I'm guessing a lot of us are still fighting it rather than flying even after your, most excellent, tutorials.

Good idea of this two things!!!! For the rookie pilot, a simple flying is quite difficult.

But how you are expecting that a training mission for this would look like?

 

I don't think that the triggersystem is the right tool for this - much better learning aids are videos and/or tracks. (and practice,practice,practice)

It is possible to do with the trigger system but difficult. It would not be so much highlighting gauges, but checking the aircraft's speed, altitude, whether its in the zone or not. It would require some skill from the pilot to do.

 

I have been looking into doing an autopilot training one. It will require some flight skill of the pilot too because they will have to be in control of the aircraft and still follow instructions. But its a work in progress.

Given that BS2 is available as a full standalone game, presumably hoping to attract some new players as well as old, I find it shocking that it would not come with a full suite of training missions like DCS A10 did. (I assume BS2 has no training, otherwise why would you be making them yourself) I'm struggling to justify an upgrade to BS2 when in all the time i've owned the original i still dont know the proper starup procedure. Its great that you are dedicating you're time to help us newbs out and i'll certainly give your training a go if I get BS2. I spose the upgrade price aint too bad.

I honestly do not know why they did not include training missions like in A-10C for the Black Shark. It would have been nice however, I am grateful that my time and efforts have helped so many people learn to fly the aircraft. These missions have even helped me learn to the fly the aircraft better.

 

As for the job, I have recently found myself without one and could really use it haha.. but seriously, I doubt they would offer me a job doing this :thumbup: Thank you for your support though!

Is there a basic flight mission? Got a handle on your startup miz. and weaponary but damned if I know how to fly the thing. And, by the way, thanks for doing this. I've had BS2 for two months and it has just sat on the back burner because I was soooo totally lost. It made WH seem like a piece of cake.

Unfortunately, there is no basic flight mission. You can easily create a simple flight by loading the editor and placing a helicopter on an air field. Be sure its a ka-50 from the drop down menus and is set to player. You can also choose how you start the mission whether airborne, start from ramp, or start from run way. This will be just a simple free flight type of mission.

Unfortunately, there is no basic flight mission.

...basic flight mission included in BS2:

 

a) INSTANT ACTION > Ka-50 free flight Sukhumi

- you are placed over Sukhumi and the carrier Kuznetsov is waiting for you in the bay.

 

b) INSTANT ACTION > Ka-50 shooting range

- just practice with a wing-man

 

c) INSTANT ACTION > Ka-50 take off Beslan

-as it says - nothing more-nothing less.

 

More advanced:

d) MISSION > System Missions > Courier.miz

- lets you search for a car and bring a map to a ship.

 

e) MISSION > System Missions > Air show.miz

- perform a pin-point air-show demo in a three ship configuration!

 

I think there is enough to train your skills before entering a battle...;)

I made a package that unifies all your BS2 trainings that are available up to now in one package that will integrate the lessons into the Menu of BS2.

BS2 menu integration for Interactive Training by BigfootMSR 1-4-2012

 

 

 

 

This pack will integrate all interactive missions into the training menu of BS2.

 

Simply copy the "Training" folder into your BS2 installation folder. (and allow to integrate/overwrite if you are updating)

 

Example path >> G:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS Black Shark 2

 

 

This will add two new categories:

 

1.'Interactive: Aircraft Operation'

 

>Aircraft Start-up

>En-Route Navigation Training

>ABRIS AMMS Overview

>ABRIS Advanced Training

 

2.'Interactive: Combat Employment'

Valuable info for those that have difficulties to activate the triggers in the ABRIS lessons:

I have noticed that the buttons seem to trigger better when you are zoomed in on the ABRIS and not adjusting your view. So, don't use the trackIR(I had to stow mine for these) Pressing and holding the mouse button and making small circles over the button will get them to trigger as well. This is a strange problem with black shark and not the triggers themselves however.

I can look into it. *EDIT* I will not be doing an Air to Air combat mission. The procedures for air to air combat are virtually the same for air to ground attacks just harder. You still have to lock the target with the Schkval.

 

PeterP, your awesome!:thumbup: I will update all the mission files with your new naming convention to make updating the missions through the user files section easier for people.

PeterP, I have uploaded the new ABRIS AMMS advanced mission using the new naming convention and I have also re-uploaded all the mission files using the new naming convention. A couple of them like weapon employment were changed so they all say BS2 and Training ex: "BS2_Weapon Employment_Training.miz"

 

Once I have released the final mission I will upload your link to the user files section.

Great Work Bigfoot and PeterP! A great help for me, returning to BS afte months.

 

I have one problem with the missions though, tested 4 or 5 times. In the missions wehre ABRIS is used (navigation and Abris/PVI800 introduction) when the lessons wait for me to press "NAV" or key 5, it never resumes. I tried with both the keyboard and the mouse, I tried pressing spacebar too, but nothing happens, it just stays there waiting. I too tried loading missions from both "Training" and "Missions".

I know that you tried it -I can read ;) , but try again and this time put away the Track-IR and use the keyboard for the buttons-presses (this worked for me after some attempts while I centred my view and didn't zoomed in)- and/or don't shift your view while clicking with the mouse.

Keep the button pressed until it switches to the next section. Sometimes it took about 1sec for it to change/register the button.
