Pilotasso Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I will wait and see the new NVIDIA cards and prices drop. I got news that most people in my division are getting a raise, and should I finaly get it, the first months extra cash might go somewhere but my savings account :devil_2: .
HiJack Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Any performance details yet for this card Marder, GregP or tintifaxl?
McDaniel Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 must be a terrible card....nobody brags about it :-)))) McDan out |AMD 7800x3D | 64GB DDR5-3600| GTX 4090 | Virpil Stick, Collectiv, WW MIP, WW Throttle, MFG Crosswind V2 | Windows 11 64-bit | SSD Samsung | 4K LG Oled 48 | Oculus Q3 | Simlab based Cockpit
tintifaxl Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Any performance details yet for this card Marder, GregP or tintifaxl? I don't do any benchmarks, but playing with max_fps=30 in the graphics config the fps stay there all the time with very high settings @1920x1200 in the Georgian Hammer missions whereas the GTX570 had it's fps drops. I'm very happy with the performance. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
GregP Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Any performance details yet for this card Marder, GregP or tintifaxl? Yup, as I posted here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84963&highlight=7970
Marder Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 The performance is really great. I think my i7 920 is the bottleneck right now ^^. I get very good framerates but with mirrors and civ-traffic off :) Everything else is set to the highest (even 16x QAA) @1920x1080 + 1280x1024 MB: Intel DX79TO; Core i7 3820 (3,6 ghz); SPU: Asus Xonar D2X; GPU: AMD XFX 7970 BE OC (3GB); RAM: Kingston 8 GB DDR3-1333 Quad-Kit; HHDs: G.Skill Phoenix SSD (for OS&DCS), WD 1 TB + WD 160GB; PSU: be Quiet! blackbelter Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 To Marder and other 7970 users: Even with AMD7970, mirrors still need to be turned off? That's quite disappointing, since mirrors are very useful in a dogfight... What difference in fps can you see between mirrors on and off?

That's quite disappointing, since mirrors are very useful in a dogfight... What difference in fps can you see between mirrors on and off? I'll test it. Maybe i had mirrors and and civ-traffic turned on/off the same time :) MB: Intel DX79TO; Core i7 3820 (3,6 ghz); SPU: Asus Xonar D2X; GPU: AMD XFX 7970 BE OC (3GB); RAM: Kingston 8 GB DDR3-1333 Quad-Kit; HHDs: G.Skill Phoenix SSD (for OS&DCS), WD 1 TB + WD 160GB; PSU: be Quiet! Kuky Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Mirrors on affects mosrtly the CPU, not the video card, It's resolution is low and there is no AA/AF aplied to it but all objects behind you needs to be rendered/calculated... so this is like equivalent of doubling of your FoV PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

I never enter a dogfight in the A-10C, instead I always run and call in the cavalry. :P Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
GregP Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 What difference in fps can you see between mirrors on and off? Well I haven't done a test with the 7970, but back when I was using a 6970 (but still using a resolution of 6400x2160) my FPS went from 20 up to 23-4. I'd imagine just about same would happen with the 7970.
